Maruti Suzuki iM-4 coming to India

Maruti Suzuki is considering the iM-4 for the Indian car market, the SUV that it had showcased this year at the Geneva Motor Show in India.

Currently Maruti is focusing on getting the SX4 Cross and the Vitara Brezza SUVs to India, but it has plans to get into an even small SUV segment too.

This new iM-4 will be manufactured in India and exported to Europe starting from 2017. This will be a smaller SUV than the YBA and will be about 3.6 metres in length.

For the European market it will be powered by a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine and will come with a 4×4 option. While for India it will be powered by a 1.0-litre K-Series engine and a 0.8-litre diesel engine. This will be a front-wheel drive and not come as 4×4 for India.

Re: Suzuki's Crossover iM 4 To Debut in India in 2017

Woah! I was impressed initially : 4x4, 3.6m length, 1.0 BJ Engine! Too much fun. It would have been the ultimate fun-to-drive vehicle.

Sadly, no plans to launch this in India with these specs.

It looks like another A-Star Cross to me, only in terms of looks. Hope they come up with a more mature design at the time of launch and position it between the WagonR and Dzire, maybe at similar prices of Swift (though it will kill the Swift's sale if it looks good to the customers).

I am sure they will again make a pricing blunder with this car, like they did with S Cross 1.6 version.

Patent images showcasing the possible production-spec model of the iM-4 SUV concept have surfaced on the internet. The images show the production car with toned down styling.

As per the patent images, the production-spec iM-4 is likley to lose all-LED headlamps in favour of conventional units though overall styling of the front end remains unchanged from the concept. On the flanks, the wheels are now smaller while the wing-mirrors are styled more conventionally and get incorporated turn indicators. The production car also gets pull-style door handles in place of the flush set ones on the concept. At the back, the production-spec model misses out on the integrated roof mounted spoiler.

The production iM-4 is expected to go into production internationally sometime in late-2016 and is expected to be powered by a choice of 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine or the 1.2-litre Dualjet engine from the Swift sold in the international markets.

Re: Suzuki iM-4 patent images leaked

Looks like a little bit upgraded Celerio. Somehow the car doesn't look good.
Especially the rear side of the car. Maybe because it is only a drawing.

But the TATA Nexon look much better than this one iM-4.

Note that Nexon will compete with Maruti's Vitara Brezza and Ford's EcoSport.

iM -4 will be a segemnt lower - Mini Crossover with a possible 4x4 configuration.

Suzuki's Mini Crossover seen testing in Germany and in the Swiss Alps. The Crossover like the new Baleno will be ' Made in India' and exported.
Expect and 2016 Indian launch. Will be available in 4x4 configuration but not sure for India though.
Suzuki's newly announced 1.0-liter turbocharged Boosterjet petrol with 110hp could be one of the engines powering the mini crossover that is believed to be offered in both front- and all-wheel drive iterations.
Testing will commence soon in India.

Representing a cross between a city car and an SUV, the tall-riding A-segment model should have similar dimensions to the concept that was just under 3.7 meters long

Doesn't the front overhang look too low and seem not to give much of an approach angle?

Re: Suzuki's Mini-Crossover Named Ignis (Codename YJC) To Debut in 2017

Bumped into this relatively dormant thread:)
Being a WagonR owner, I am intrigued by the design for its practicality and the semi-retro bits (switches). Any idea if the launch is confirmed for September 2016 and if it will be coming with the boosterjet engine under the Nexa franchise?

In comparison to the Baleno, any idea about its kerb weight? I guess it's too early to tell as I haven't found any reports on that. Does anyone know if this is the production version of the car or is it likely to be further toned down:(?
