Mahindra to have nine launches this year. This will include three new products on two new platforms, two new SUVs and one will be a new light commercial vehicle, then three will be three facelifts and three new variants will be introduced.

The two new passengers vehicles will be the new compact SUV (S101) which has a 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine with an AMT. This will be under 4 metres and it will have a monocoque body. The Mahindra S101 will compete with the Ford Ecosport.

The second SUV to be launched is the new generation Bolero (also codenamed as U301). This will be powered by a three-cylinder 1.5-litre diesel engine and will be based on a new ladder frame chassis, which will be a lot lighter than the current Bolero. This will also get an AMT and will produce about 70bhp of power. The new-generation Bolero will be a seven-seater and will have three rows of seating.

The three facelifts for this year will include the Quanto upgrade, XUV500 upgrade and the Thar. The three new variants are likely to be amongst the Verito electric, Scorpio and XUV500 automatics and the Quanto AMT.

Apart from S101 and U301, the updated Quanto will get its unique identity in terms of styling with an all-new chassis and AMT.
Quanto
Mahindra is readying a thoroughly updated Quanto which is expected to be launched in the coming months. Most of the front-styling bits with the Xylo, the updated Quanto is likely to get its unique identity in the form of all-new and more SUV-ish front styling. What’s more, the interior is also expected to get tweaks in the form of new seats and more equipment.

Quanto facelift will continue with the 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel unit and for the first time, an automated-manual transmission-equipped variant will also be on offer.

Mini Compact S101 & Mahindra U301 - both will have the AMT variant- launch 2016
While the S101 is a monocoque architecture-based compact SUV, the U301 – also a sub-four-metre SUV –will be based on a ladder-frame set up.

The U301 will be equipped with the same 1.5-litre motor that does duty on the Quanto, mated to manual as well as AMT gearboxes. Mahindra is also likely to offer AWD on the U301 compact SUV at a later stage.

The S101 will come with an all-new 1.2-litre diesel as well as a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which will be derived from a larger powerplant. All engines powering the S101 compact SUV will be based on Mahindra’s new engine family.

While the S101 is expected to be a direct rival to the likes of the EcoSport, the U301, also touted as the “new” Bolero by many, is expected to fill the gap between the current Bolero and the updated and more upmarket Scorpio.

Mahindra will also bring in the updated XUV500 very soon. Apart from cosmetic tweaks on the outside, it is expected to come with an Aisin six-speed gearbox. With the Aisin auto gearbox mated to the capable 2.2-litre mHawk motor, the XUV500 could have good potential in several international markets too.

Mahindra's upcoming SUV code named U 301 is likely to be badged as TUV300 and its mini compact/ car to be XUV100.

The TUV300 is a compact SUV (sub 4-metre) and Mahindra will be introducing a larger size of this new SUV in the future, which will be named as TUV500.

The S101 gets a 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines, which are the company’s newly developed engines and is a small size vehicle when compared to TUV300.

Mahindra might name the U301 as TUV300 - MotorOctane

Mahindra Introduces Automatic Variants of Scorpio; Prices Start at Rs. 13.13 lakh

Mahindra & Mahindra launched the new-generation Scorpio in September last year, and there had been persistent reports of the impending launch of the automatic variant of the SUV in 2015. Dealerships across Delhi report that the Mahindra Scorpio Automatic has been launched at Rs. 13.13 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 2WD variant, and Rs. 14.33 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 4WD. However, with Hyundai Creta's launch scheduled for July 21, 2015 - it seems the utility carmaker stands the chance to get the first mover's advantage though the Creta is not a direct competitor for the Scorpio.

Now available in a total of 11 variants, Mahindra offers the Scorpio with a choice of 2 engine options, namely, 2.2-litre mHawk and 2.5-litre M2DICR (base variant - S2) diesel. The utility vehicle maker has placed the automatic gearbox variant at top of the line-up, the Scorpio automatic will be launched early next year.

The Scorpio S10 AT houses the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit under the hood, which puts out 120bhp and 280Nm of peak torque. Considering the fact that it is the top-end variant, it is fully-loaded in terms of provisions for comfort and safety; it gets dual airbags, ABS, and EBD, among other features.

One must know that Mahindra is yet to make an official announcement about the automatic variant of the Scorpio. The details and prices mentioned in the story were gathered from dealerships across Delhi.

However, it is interesting to note that the news of the arrival of the Scorpio's automatic variant comes close in the heels of Hyundai's announcement about the number of pre-bookings it has received for the upcoming Creta compact SUV. Set to be launched soon, the Creta has received over 28,500 enquiries and more than 10,000 advance bookings already.
