BMW India Discontinues 1, 3, 5 Series Variants in 2015 Pricelist

Buddies,

BMW India has probably decided to dis-continue some of its non-profitable variants of the 1, 3 and 5 series respectively as its evident from the price-list released on 01 January 2015.

The variants in question are: 116i Prestige, 328i Sport Plus, 520d Modern Line, 525d Luxury Plus, X1 20d in both Expedition and Sport Line variants.

There are some reasons why BMW decided to discontinue the petrol versions. Here are my observations
1. Their Petrol Models were low selling compared to diesel versions.
2. Petrol versions were expensive then diesel in 3 Series(328i), 5 Series(530i).
3. Some of thier petrol versions were less equipped then diesel versions. X1 & 1 Series petrol are some examples.
4. With diesel being the higher selling version, BMW decided to shut down petrol versions.

Though I was a bit surprised that 6 Series Diesel(640d) was discontinued in 2 Door (Coupe) version though the GranCoupe still exists.
