Chevrolet Spin MPV Unveiled in India

Available internationally with petrol and diesel engines.
The Chevrolet Spin MPV was caught testing in India, along the Vadodara-Halol toll road by a Team BHP reader. As of now, GM India have not announced plans to launch the Spin in the country, as the American car maker already has the Enjoy and Tavera plying the personal and commercial MPV segments.

Thank God, this isn't another sub 4m MPV.





Looks proportionate and promising. Hope Chevy should price it reasonably (same as the case of Sail sedan which is little over 4m and priced almost same as other sub 4m sedans in market)

sub 4meter MPV is not possible in reality even chevy njoy measures more then 4meters i hope that chevy will position this spin marginally above the "enjoy"

Nothing is impossible buddy. VW developing Sub 4m sedan based on Vento when it's hatch back sibling Polo measures almost 4m.

its possible but 3rd row bench is not practical because we all know maruti ertiga 3rd row is only suitable for kids if we really want a sub 4meter spacious MPV it must be machine minimum man maximum concept like TATA NANO design

TATA already have sub 4meter MPV concept called TATA INDIVA

This surely will be the best looking Chevy car in India, especially the rear looks very nice. With the wheel on the rear door, the boot should also be the largest amongst its competitors.

Chevrolet Spin MPV (Renault LODGY rival) snapped testing in India – Spied

The Chevrolet Spin MPV was snapped on test by Motoroids reader, Mr. Adarsh recently. The Spin is announced to launch in India in 2016, and was fast-tracked as the MPV’s dyes and tools are being relocated from the Indonesian plant which will shut down by end of June.

The closure of the plant is part of GM’s global restructuring program, aimed at cutting expenses.
Coming to the Spin, sources tell Indian Autos Blog that the people-mover will be positioned and priced as a premium alternative to the Enjoy. Like the Enjoy, the Spin in India is expected to make use of the 1.3-liter four-cylinder diesel engine (Fiat MultiJet unit) that is manufactured by GM at the flexible engine plant in Talegoan, Maharashtra, with a higher state of output. Other engine options available on the Spin include 1.2- and 1.5-liter petrol units in the overseas market.

GM also offers a crossover-styled Spin Activ in Brazil which gets additions such as an external spare wheel, roof rails, body cladding and skid guards – design elements which are finding traction among Indian buyers on compact vehicles. Offering the Spin Activ as a premium variant in the Indian market wouldn’t be a surprising move as a result.

Another 1.3 multijet. Fed up of this multijet varients! 90% of diesel car models in india is with 3 different engines. 1.3 multijet, 1.5 Dci & 1.5 I-dtech

V6, V8, V12 are far dreams to become common. coz we are folks with this historical question, KITNA DETI HAI. ( How much does it give). so as long as thats the deciding question. these will be the engines you will see. its not the company's fault. its the market which requires such engines only.

The front facia looks outdated and this is anyway part of a break it and make it system followed by all car companies in India(transferring outdated models from other countries ). GM itself is in doldrums and this may be there last leaf.

Chevrolet Essentia – that’s likely the name for Spin in India!

The Essentia or the Spin will be coming with a 1.3-litre diesel engine and this will produce about 90bhp of power and will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. This will be a premium seven-seater MPV and it will be placed above the Chevrolet Enjoy. It will be made available only with a diesel engine.

The Essentia will target the premium MPV buyer and will be priced between INR 9-13 lakhs (on-road). The Essentia will be manufactured in the company’s Halol plant in Gujarat and GM will be looking at exporting this as well

A lot of these new MPV-the lodgy included seem to be fighting for the same slice of the pie-i dont see the sales of the Innova, Ertiga hit in any way. These will fight for the small remaining share with the Xylo, Enjoy...

Chevrolet to launch Essentia and Ultiva in 2016 -EXCLUSIVE

Chevrolet India will launch two products in 2016, one will be a compact MPV and the other will be a compact SUV. Both will be based on the Spin, and will be tailored for the Indian car market. Chevrolet is selling the Spin MPV and Spin Activ (SUV) on this same platform, however for India it will be called as the Essentia and Ultiva respectively. The company had launched it will be launching Spin in India, but we have confirmed news that General Motors will be introducing two compact UVs.

We had revealed the details on the Essentia a couple of days ago and how did General Motors decide to use the name for the Spin MPV. The Ultiva will be a compact SUV that will compete with the Ford Ecosport. Both the MPV and the SUV will be trimmed and the SUV will be certainly under 4 metres in length. This was smart thinking by Chevrolet as the American auto giant will now target SUV and MPV buyers with a similar looking product. The MPV will be a seven-seater and the SUV will be a five-seater. The Ultiva will have a wheel mounted at the rear, but it will be having a swing gate and hatch opeining styling, like the Fiat Avventura. Both will be manufactured in GM’s Halol plant.

Both these vehicles will be powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine that produces 90bhp of power and about 209Nm of peak torque. These engines will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. There won’t a petrol option initially but General Motors will be introducing a petrol engine too, once the exports of the Spin twin will commence from Halol plant.

The compact UV market is one of the fastest growing segments and Chevrolet will not want to miss out on this opportunity. Chevrolet is already testing the compact SUV and the MPV in India. The Ultiva is the SUV and the Essentia the MPV.

Car looks better than other MPVs and it is spacious. The big let down is puny engine for such big car! What on earth GM guys are smoking? Weed!
