Datsun a company looking for an aggresive growth in India chalks out its future line up - with a SUV/CUV .

A compact SUV/crossover will be a part of Datsun’s offering in the mid-term. The timeline to the launch of the Datsun compact SUV - it will come after parent Nissan launches its compact SUV in India within a couple of years.

The Nissan and Datsun compact SUVs will not be badge-engineered products though. For the Datsun brand, the crossover will be based on the Go’s platform, which traces its roots to the Nissan V-Platform.

The crossover will mainly target first time customers who “want something different”. Could be the cheapest CUV in the making?

Thanks to India's future plans for safety - so this CUV will have to undergo the mandatory tests before launching to the Indian masses.

It shall definitely go under crash tests but the outcome of those crash tests is equally important. Datsun has to revise its safety parameters with regards to its products. Crash testing a car without safety features is of no use. Its bound to get a "zero".

In the name of being a budget brands, Datsun should not compromise on the safety of passengers any further.
