Buddies,

Reports are rife that BMW is all set to launch its i8 model in India in February 2015. It is expected to be lighter than the M4 Coupe.

According to a report on ZigWheels, the BMW i8 hybrid sportscar will launch in India next month, for an expected price of INR 2 crores, ex-Showroom. The i8 will essentially debut the ‘i’ brand in India, and was in fact showcased at the Auto Expo last year.

WHAT a car ! If only I had Rs. 2C to buy and Rs. 10L to maintain ... sigh.

OT: If I were a HUGE Hyundai fan, I would say, this car is twelve less :lol!:

Re: BMW Officially Launches i8 at 2.29 Crores.

Buddies,

The new BMW i8 has been launched in India today at a massive price of INR 2.29 Crores.

The BMW i8 is the first mid-engined hybrid car to launch in India. Since its main focus is fuel efficiency, the hybrid power train comprises of a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder petrol motor and an electric motor placed at the front and rear axles, respectively. The petrol engine produces 231 hp and 320 Nm of torque, which it transmits to the rear wheels via a 6-speed transmission, while the electric motor offers peak output of 131 hp and 250 Nm of torque supplied to the front axle, making it an AWD-capable car. The fuel efficiency is rated at 47.45 km/l.

Looks cool but with a shocking price.
I wonder if they have tested this car in real Indian conditions before releasing it ?

Does any one know if this car can handle the ingeniously devised speed breakers without hanging in the centre ? What about pot holes, bullying auto rickshaws and monsoon rains ? What if one of the buffalos you see on the city roads decided to scratch its back on the car ? Can this car withstand these?

If yes , then perhaps its worth the price tag.

Is this taken in Bird Automotive sec 14? Its because I can see that the cars in the position they are placed are quite similar. Pics are awesome and no doubt the i8 is a looker. Thanks a lot.

It's only Deutsche Motoren Mathura Road who are the Authorized Dealers for the BMW i8 in the North of India. This machine, according to the person who took the delivery of this machine, is a better handler than the Ferrari and Lamborghini. No jokes all what he had to say about this car as compared to his other two cars - Ferrari and Lamborghini was - this is a better handler than the two but of-course not for the tracks.
