TAI-COTY is back! Let me start off by wishing a Happy New Year 2015 to all the members of The Automotive India family. Started as our humble effort to encourage new advancements and quality vehicles in the Indian automobile industry, The Automotive India Car of the Year awards have come a long way since their inception.

Here's what makes TAI-COTY different from any other “Car of the Year Award” India has ever witnessed:

  • There is no secluded “jury”. Your, the end-consumers', voice is the only opinion that counts here.

  • The results are real-time and absolutely transparent through a public-poll. Anyone can see who has voted for what car.

  • Most importantly, this is NOT just another virtual award. For the first time in online media, the winner is duly recognized with an actual trophy.

You are free to cast the vote for car of your own choice. But we do recommend taking into account the following aspects that a typical Indian car buyer looks for:

  • Fuel Efficiency

  • Value For Money

  • Looks and Design

  • Safety and Security

  • Comfort and Features

  • Engine and Performance

  • Brand image and aftersales support
Note:

  • Only all-new cars launched in India between Jan 1, 2014 to Dec 31, 2014 are nominated.

  • Mere facelifts do not qualify. High-end cars are kept out too considering minor market share.

  • As always, this poll is open for a period of complete one month (From Jan 1, 2015 – Jan 31, 2015).

  • The results will be formally announced thereafter followed by the award handing over ceremony to the winner.

  • All registered members can cast a vote. If you're unregistered and wish to vote, please register first (it's quick and free).

Ford India's then Executive Director, Mr.Vinay Piparsania, expresses his views upon receiving TAI-COTY award last year on behalf of Ford.

Update (2/3/15): TAI-COTY 2014 Trophy has now been officially handed over to Tata Motors. Head onto Page 7 of this thread for complete details.

Zest, though I dont own one but am completely smitten by it , amazing design and quality, inside out. A lot of thoughtful touches too.The bolt which I came across in a mall yesterday is fabulous too with a mini like stance from the back. The car I really liked was the CIAZ and the new Corolla.

The Zest is a brilliant car,Tata has already crossed borders to a new level, but the i20 elite is what really won me over, looks smart, feels smart, drives good,is a hatch so easy at city, good economy and loaded with features,

A cousin of mine booked the Audi a3 35 TDI technology, and the on road price Kochi is 40 lakhs,so it looses my favourite list, really liked the car but even a new Audi a4 has just 42 lakhs on road full option so in that sense it felt like too expensive, Honda City is not a Honda for me ateast,it felt like a mass car nothing spectcular except those bsck seats and the spicy petrol engine.

Zest, as it has given the buyers an excellent additional option in the sub-4 meter segment. There are more powerful, more spacious, more luxurious more costlier cars from the list of nominees. But I think, Zest offers "More Value to Customer" who wants to upgrade from a Hatchback.
PS: I would advise TML not to associate the term "Value for Money" with Zest.

A lot of thoughtful touches too ,a ring light near the ignition key, small things you see makes a lot of difference. The bolt which I came across in a mall yesterday is fabulous too with a mini like stance from the back. The other cars I really liked apart from Zest was the CIAZ,GLA and the all new Corolla.

Tata Zest: Combination of awesome looks, superb interiors(design+fit n finish) , spacious cabin(best in class), cool technology(turbo charged gasoline engine with multiple drive modes), and well balanced best in class suspension, along with super VFM quotient makes it the best new car of 2014, period.

Though my heart goes for the looks of Elite i20, But practically, Zest it is.
Take it from a current Fluidic i20 owner, I am damn impressed by TATA. I am to change my car in February-March and I am heavily leaning towards Zest. A top end Diesel Automatic will seal the deal for me.

Even though I just booked Hyundai Xcent, Voted for Elite i20, it is the best car, all round package. TATA Zest is good car but, TATA's ASS is the culprit.
