Renault Captur will be positioned below Duster and will compete with Ford EcoSport and Hyundai’s ix25.
Expect powertrain and parts sharing from Duster.
With Duster's future sales projections do not seem to have a strong growing number, this new compact CUV will bring Renault India in game again by 2016 with competition from Hyundai’s ix25 and face-lifted Ford EcoSport.ned as a premium compact SUV.
Nissan will not do a badge engineering with this model.

Re: Rumour: Renault Might Launch Captur in India in 2016

Renault, the French car manufacturer, is considering a sub-4 metre SUV for the Indian market. To be slotted below the top-selling Duster SUV, the new compact SUV will challenge the Ford EcoSport and the upcoming Maruti YBA.

The Indian version of the Captur will see some changes versus the European version that was launched in 2013. The most major part is that the length is likely to be brought down to under four metres to avail of excise duty benefits, from the current 4.1 metres,” a source close to the development said. The engines are expected to be the 1.5 litre diesel and 1.2 litre petrol engine used across Renault and Nissan models like the Micra, Sunny, Duster and even the Fluence.
To be launched by 2017/18.

Renault as a brand will be introducing the Kadjar and Captur in India in 2016 nd 2017 respectively. As per the plan, Renault will introducing these two SUVs and Nissan will be building up on X-Trail and Qashqai as all these vehicles fall under the same CMF-C-D platform. There isn’t just platform sharing, but even the engines on these are shared

Renault lines up slew of UV launches; poses biggest threat to M&M.

Renault has now set its sights on the space occupied by the Mahindra XUV500 and plans to launch a new SUV, codenamed HHA, likely in October 2017.

The vehicle, based on the globally successful Captur design, will be introduced before two compact vehicles - an SUV and an MPV - take shape on the Common Module Family-A (CMF-A) platform. In between, an all-new Duster is scheduled to hit the market in 2018.
The two vehicles on the CMF-A platform are likely to be priced between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, filling the gap between the entry-level Kwid and the new Duster and HHA. ET talked to five people with knowledge of Renault's product plans in India.
he new premium SUV (HHA) is an emerging market derivative of the Captur. It is based on the Logan M0-B platform, with a highly successful European styling and it will have an all-new longer body for markets like India, Russia and Brazil, and meet the practicality of seven seat

Since the model is based on the M0-Logan platform, it will share a lot of parts with the Duster and the Lodgy multi-purpose vehicle, helping the company enjoy from economies of scale and develop the vehicle quickly and at a lower cost.

7-seat Renault Captur based on Duster-platform India bound

Will first launch in Russia next year.
The Economic Times reports that Renault India will launch an SUV in October 2017, codenamed ‘HHA’. The HHA will target the likes of the Mahindra XUV500 and the forthcoming Honda BR-V, apart from compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta.

The design of the SUV will be along the lines of the hugely popular Renault Captur. However, where the Captur is based on the fourth-generation Renault Clio platform, the Captur for India (and emerging markets) will use the Renault Duster’s M0 platform.
Apart from switching to an older, albeit well localized platform, the M0-based Captur will also sport a longer wheelbase, and will offer seating for seven occupants. Renault India has well localized this platform on the Duster and the Lodgy, and hence, prices for the Captur are expected to be competitive. It’ll also help engineers develop the vehicle quickly.

Last week, a Russian report stated that the Captur for emerging markets will first enter production at the Avtoframos plant in Russia, from the second half of next year. For the Russian market, the Captur will also get the benefit of an AWD system, whereas the European model is sold exclusively with a front-wheel drive layout.

The Renault Kaptur will go on sale in Russia in Summer 2016 (June-August 2016). It will be locally built at the company’s Moscow plant, from where, Russian reports suggest, exports will likely be made to other nations of the Eurasian Economic Union: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In India, the Kaptur will reportedly be launched in October 2017.

The Indian version should be built at the Renault-Nissan’s Alliance plant in Oragadam near Chennai.

Renault is all set to bring the KAPTUR to India. Will be more premium than the Duster.
Based on the Duster platform the Kaptur will take on higher variants of Hyundai's Creta. Introduced for Russia and now relealesed in Brazil too, Renault will launch it here in late 2017.

Now testing in India,

If this is going to be placed above Duster, then it is going into Tuscon territory. It will definitely be a disaster and DoA. It is basically a 5 seater and does not even come close to Rexton or Tuscon or even the CR-V in terms of road presence, however premium the product may be. I have seen it in flesh here. It more or less looks like Nexon and was definitely not a head turner. 15+ lakhs for a car with 1.5 l Diesel engine and zero road presence, well good luck Renault.

Renault to launch CAPTUR in India during this festive season ~ October 2017.
1_530_800_http___cdni_autocarindia_com_ExtraImages_20170713065104_captur-2.jpg

Will be in Petrol and diesel, both in MT configuration at launch. AT and AWD will come later. The Captur will sit a segment above Duster and will rival Hyundai's Creta.

Captur for India will be built on the Duster's platform and will be powered by the tried and tested engine combinations from the Duster .
This platform and engines used will differentiate it from the international model as they are the new generation and will be cost prohibitive for India.

Like the Duster, will this have the same sub-standard airbags and spare parts to make it cost effective for Indian customers? I will never trust a Renault product ever again and risk my family's safety.

Hope The Captur will have better VFM than the overpriced Creta to get a nice slice of the sales pie. Otherwise it will be another Renault Pulse/Scala.
