Maruti Suzuki To Launch a New MPV in 2016

Maruti Suzuki may introduce compact MUV that would help it log volumes in the fiercely competitive compact car space.


Code-named YJC, is being conceived especially for India, and will be placed under the flagship Ertiga. Maruti is trying to create a new niche segment that will bridge the gap between hatchbacks and crossover vehicles in terms of size and seating capacity.

The company has floated proposals to its vendors and suppliers for designing and sourcing components of the car. Maruti Suzuki, which is likely to introduce the car in the festive season of 2016, is targeting around 80,000 units in the first year.

It is this concept that Maruti Suzuki has been working upon!













The point is why are they not able to create new and refreshed designs? Why are they only stretching and slicing their existing fleet to come out with so called "new" models?

Really boring. Same old stuff. Dont know why maruti is going the datsun way. Even though they build cheap VFM mass cars that doesnt mean they have to keep bloating or stretching their existing dull looking models and make it huge and give it a new name/ or badge it the India's most wanted vehicle-SUV or the MPV.
When it comes to SUV nothing can match mahindra.

No the report says 'Conceived for India' and hence we can expect a car not as seen in post 2 nor a stretched WagonR.
Let us await as more concrete info pours in.

As per latest reports by NDTV Auto, it is highly likely that the MPV by Maruti i.e YJC will be an extended Wagon R which is planned for a 2016 launch.

Maruti Suzuki Indiais planning to bring in a new compact Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) soon. Codenamed YJC, it was first introduced as a WagonR 7-seater variant concept at the 2013 Indonesia Motor Show. The new MPV is likely to be based on the existing WagonR 5-seater hatchback.

Set to be offered in India and South East Asian nations, the upcoming YJC MPV will be positioned above the WagonR, but below the Ertiga. Rumour has it that the company has, in fact, mailed the official proposal to its vendors and supplier to commence the compact MPV's manufacturing.

Another waste of money and time.
They should bring us new SUV (TATA Safari like), New engine for all the range (Call 1.2 turbo with 100 BHP,Powerfull & efficient diesel engine).

I doubt this car will pass the NCAP test.
