I never felt Innova to be Overpriced for the following reasons
- Taxi fleet owners love it for the demand it has amongst customers
- No non-sense engine - Have seen so many Innova's with 2 - 3 lakh kms on odo on stock engines.
- My neighbour is a taxi driver and owns 2 Innova's - The first one is almost 4lakh kms and 7yrs old and not a single sensor has failed. It runs on mineral oil (not even synthetic) - except punctures, headlamp bulbs, once a power window switch - not a single breakdown till date - serviced at a FNG!
NO OFFENSE MEANT TO ANY XUV OWNER (purely my view of comparison+reality)
All said and done, on almost every famous auto forum - there is a thread to discuss the issues/niggles in XUV500/Amaze and no such thread for Innova. Why?
We all have seen the broken alloys issue of XUV500, when was the last time u heard of such a thing in Innova? If a car offers you tonnes of features and its alloy brakes in the middle of nowhere - you still prefer to call it VFM
An XUV is sold with plastic fenders @ 15+lakhs (safety, added crumple effect in a crash - really
) and you dont feel it is over priced?
When was the last time, you read a review of any MAHINDRA SUV and the reviewer has not cribbed about suspension?Be it scorpio/xuv/xylo
Think about it which other MPV has won hearts in both private and taxi fleet? VFM
is not just about what features/specs you get for the money you pay, it also partially includes reliability & peace of mind. XUV is a great product, but it cant replace an Innova.
There are lots of things Innova could offer - extra airbags(on top end)+ABS
(in all versions)+a taller final gear etc
The design of basic stuff like suspension has remained almost same since it came! 10yrs old design @ such a price.
I am not in love with Innova, but its a simple fact that Innova has no real competition, hence Although we feel it is over priced - it deserves that money, till the day a strong competition arrives.
