Toyota Fortuner 4x4 AT Launched @ Rs.26.49 Lakh

Toyota will be launching a new variant of the Fortuner with a 2.5-litre diesel engine in the first week of October. Mated to a manual transmission, this 2.5-litre engine will make 168bhp. This two-wheel drive variant will be positioned below all the current 3.0-litre offerings from the Toyota stable.
Besides the new 2.5-litre engined Fortuner, Toyota is also planning to launch a 3.0-litre 4WD Automatic version that will sit at the top end of the range. The power output remains the same at 168bhp.

The basic version of present Toyota Fortuner as of yesterday costs 24 lacs on road. I went to see the Corolla 2014 yesterday so checked Fortuner too. If Toyota plans to launch a revised and more efficient engine capacity then probably the price should be between 18 to 20 lacs. Engine is one thing that Toyota has been surviving on for a long time otherwise their portfolio is really limited.

The 2.5 L Endeavor shall be it's main competitor with a price tag of 20 Lacs. So, as I said above the base model Fortuner is 24 lacs with 3.0 L engine so 2.5 L new Fortuner should be priced competitively so that Endaevor doesn't become a nightmare for upcoming Toyota Fortuner.

Just wanted to ask for Information, will Toyota launch Camry Diesel using this 2.5 L D4D Engine. If that happens, Camry sales will increase and a reliable diesel premium sedan will be available for buyers. Apart from Superb, I don't think there are any cars with diesel heart in its segment.

Power output is tuned upto 144PS by replacing its Fixed Geometry Turbocharger with a Variable Geometry unit. More importantly, it generates 343Nm of peak torque which is equal$to that of the current manual options.

The current lineup of the Fortuner 3.0 Automatic is highly expected to get a new 4WD variant which is currently available only in two-wheel drive type

On design front, no any change is expected other than the new badges but interior is likely to boast of a few new features.
This new lightweight Fortuner will help Toyota to target a wide segment of buyers which its closest rival, the Ford Endeavour.

Good news to hear.This is the same d4d block (2.5L) available in innova today.But what makes difference is that the addition of a VNT(variable nozzle turbo) which boosts the power from 102 bhp to 144bhp!! Some rumour going around is that the next gen innova will get this power train with VNT.God knows what toyota bharat is going to do here.No wonder if toyota do a corrolla story again.

What makes me is that,the current generation Toyota Kijang(here Innova)in philippines is available with this VNT block+Automatic gear box.Why they avoided it in indian market?For reducing production cost?May be they didn't want to kill fortuner sales.

No way.All these 2KD FTV and 1KD FTV diesels are made for IMV platform (used in innova,fortuner,hilux etc) were these engines are mounted Longitudinally.For mounting these engines in camry's engine bay they have to do a lot of home work.As toyota is lazy in doing this,we can conclude that there is no way for this.

Front wheel Drive vs Rear wheel Drive. Again, it is Sedan vs SUV. Both got merits and drawbacks. Assume driving a sedan and SUV on a very rough terrain. On sedan we count each potholes, while SUV not. Toyota SUVs with 4x2 are rear wheel drives.

Came across some info., so though of sharing with you all - Globally, there are lot of power train options for Fortuner 2.5 & 2.7 in Vietnam and Gasoline 4.0L and 2.7L in Egypt

fortuner 2.5L Should be priced at 18 lac max with 150bhp ,5 or 6 speed manual

3.0L should be 22 lac max with 200+ bhp and 8 speed dsg gearbox.

otherwise it's very stupid deal.

what Toyota is doing is simply shooting themselves in the foot. even at 25L. the vehicle is priced double than what it's worth. the features apart from 3.0L is not much different than safari storme.
if Indian brand decides to launch 25L TO 30L vehicle, it's will have 200hp + engine, 9 speed DSG, adaptive suspension, LED smart headlights, memory seats and what not.

so why is the Toyota being unfair and cheating us?
when I brought fortuner, it's price in Philippines was near 13 to 14 lac INR. THAT'S what it deserves.

I am sure Toyota will price 2.5 L from 19lakh to 24 lakh and might increase the price of 3.0L Fortuner by doing some cosmetic changes. No way they are going to reduce the price. Also they might price the 2.5L Fortuner slightly above Ford Endeavor.

Whatever features they are offering now, Fortuner is selling 1.5k month after month. With no worth while competition in sight, I don't think Fortuner will be challenged in near future.

The price of fortuner 2.5L might be above 20 Lakh.Because the new gen innova will get the same engine of 2.5L fortuner and rumoured to be priced at 20 lakh.So to prevent overlapping of prices between Fortuner and innova ,Toyota will play cleverly here by pricing 2.5L fortuner above 20 lakhs.
