It is well-known fact that many Indians are huge fan of chrome when it comes to the cars. No wonder we see many modified cars on road with aftermarket chrome fitments all over the body. Some looks good but at times looks overdone in many cases. Chrome fittings for almost every car are now easily available, thanks to the overwhelming response by Indians over these years. Tried to collage some famous aftermarket chrome fittings here.
This chrome fascism was immediately tapped by most of the OEMs, as they started face-lifting their cars with extra dose of chrome. And even big manufacturers like Toyota & Honda were also bitten by this chrome bug. How? Just look at below example now!
1. 4th Generation Honda City (2014) wears a very thick chrome stripe as against earlier (2013) slotted chrome grill.
2. Face lifted Nissan Sunny hosts new chrome inserts below fog lamps and one extra chrome strip over the lower front grill.
Chrome added in the side profile, as a window liner and on door handles.
3. 2014 Fiat Linea adores more chrome. A fairly thick zigzag type chrome stripe is placed over lower grill.
At the rear, two chrome strips have been added, one above number plate and other on lower bumper.
4. Same case for Innova, a heavy dose of chrome at the rear starting 2013 models.
And at the front, for Innova one can make out the transition of chrome level over these years. Better look at these 3 pictures one by one.
While I believe that subtle addition of chrome enhances the look of a Car and gives some premium feeling, but when used heavily looses its charm of premiumness. TAI
e.g: The extra chrome on 2014 Fiat Linea has damaged the timeless nice design of the Car IMO
. Same goes for Toyota Innova, this MUV was never a looker but with addition of lot of chrome it’s looking ugly.
Any other examples TAI
