Czech carmaker Skoda Auto’s Indian arm aims to fill the void in the hatchback space.
First it will bring the all new 2015 to the Indian market. The new Fabia will continue to be based on the PQ25 platform that also hosted the outgoing version.

The second hatchback could be a new hatchback based on the Rapid’s PQ25 platform.Considering this fact, the hatchback that Skoda is said to be planning for India is likely to be an offshoot of the new, 2015 Fabia hatchback. Development of the new hatchback is expected to begin in about 6-9 months from now with high localization. More details to emerge.

Re: Skoda India considering two Hatcbacks for India

Skoda India should first improve ASS and the brand image in India. With the dismal sales figures over last 2 years, Skoda really need some magic to get back into Indian teritory. Ironically it had to compete with the parent company (VW) products over these years (Rapid --> vento, Laura --> Jetta, Superb --> passat, Fabia --> polo), and none clicked except Superb. It will be interesting to see how VW plans to move Skoda ahead in India.

As far as I can tell they will either bring a new car based on the Polo or introduce the Skoda Citigo. Personally I'm in favour of the latter.
