What your Duster has got? A steel rim or alloy?
I know this is fanboyism, but a fifth alloy is what differentiates a true 'brand' from wannabes
My 2007 Sx4 came with 5 alloy wheels of same rim size and tyre .recently I realised most of the sedans including Ciaz high end (Zxi+) comes with a smaller size tyre as spare (forget the alloy )the tyre size is smaller with a small print in the manual that the spare wheel is for emergency purposes only and should be taken out ASAP
.so imagine you have a flat tyre in a remote location you fit the spare wheel and drive slowly and carefully with three tyres of the car of one size and fourth being different to reach a place to fix the punctured tyre and take out the spare wheel .So much for safety .generally they quote a standard to cover this pettiness .In most of the developed world Tyres are not expected to fail at all (special self sealing tyres are fitted ) so its not mandatory for a spare wheel .ie why S cross in India has a smaller boot size compared to European models and Ecosport in India has wheel mounted on the rear hatch door .
A car like s cross launched as a premium cross over does not have basic rear defogger in the lower variants(costng 11lakhs + OTR) ..I notice most of the cars like Jazz etc have no engine guards on the lower variants - can you imagine cost cutting with eliminating basic protection for the engine for flying debris on Indian roads .
I call all of these as irresponsible design management with no cross checking of specifications .Its typically meant for developing (read poor ) markets with no law or regulations to protect the user .
Unfortunately most of the reviews in India doesnot cover the basic safety features for a car but concentrate on fancy interiors, electronics etc so the consumer is not educated and demanding and can be easily conned with Beige color interior as a highlight of the car .
Thanfully S cross meets most of the safety needs mainly because it was designed for Europe and then passed on to India .
