In the period of diificult times in the Auto Industry, Maruti Suzuki the largest player in the Indian Passenger car industy has weathered the same and the company ended FY-14 with over 50% market share in car segment, with a double digit market share in vans and UVs.

Now what will they do in FY-15?
The company is eyeing a near double digit growth with big rural push, active exchange scheme and micro marketing by reaching out to 372 different segments of entrepreneurs and segments in diverse segments such as pottery , mango and turmeric farmers , with Micro marketing programs which has translated in selling 58k vehicles in FY-14.
Even as others await sentiment to pick up, Maruti Suzuki is spreading out to in the rural areas with plans to reach out to 2 lakh villages in FY-15.
Penetrating the rural seem to paying rich dividends in which they sold 94k cars last year. A segment which Maruti will nurture in the coming years too.

For the new launches MS has struck gold with Celerio - the latest blockbuster from Suzuki. AT's a word which was unkown to the mass is now the buzz word. They do not intend to stop there, Swift , Dzire and new launches seem to be coming in the AMT variants.
CIAZ/ Alivio a car that is highly anticipated with great expectations, launches
before the festive season in 2014 . If successful it will be a segemnt that has been elusive to Maruti in the past.
S- cross the Crossover from Suzuki is all set to debut in 2015, a car that is not expected to sell inn numbers but a statement from Maruti - to show its presence in the CUV segment.
Following this would be the most watched sub 4m Mini Crossover the XA Alpha rumored to debut in 2016.
The New Grand Vitrara (iV-4), the LCV's the Suzuki Diesels , the New Swift (2016?) , New Suzuki Turbo petrol engines, the new premium B+ -segment hatchback (YRA) are a few of the exciting launches that would heat up the Indian Auto Segment.[Not forgetting on the Hybrids etc that Suzuki has been recently talking off (fuel cell tech.)]
And Maruti has not done yet, the best is yet to come!

Maruti to set up diesel engine line at Gurgaon plant.

Maruti Suzuki is setting up a new engine production line at its Gurgaon plant with a capacity of 1.5-lakh units a year for its new series of self-developed diesel engines.

To be built at a cost of about R1,000 crore, the engine line will be designed along a flexible model allowing it to make various different engine sizes concurrently. Initially, it will produce only the 800cc diesel engine that will be introduced in Maruti's upcoming Light commercial vehicle and Celerio hatch this year, but later it can also make larger engines of around 1.4-litre cubic capacity in line with the plan to launch bigger sedans, crossovers and SUVs in the future.

Maruti Suzuki's new game plan

Maruti senses the market and is seeing on customer upgrading their cars in the near future. Four of the six all-new cars that the company plans to launch in the next 12-24 months will be in the segment above the Swift, with prices ranging from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 14 lakhs.
With its new range, MSIL is actually providing options to its core customers to upgrade. Given the localization advantage, Maruti is expected to price these products spot on, which could turn out to be an advantage for the company visa-vis the competition.

People who bought the Swift now want to upgrade to a sedan, SUVs, minivans and bigger sedans, so playing in the bigger car space is very critica future.
These new models include the mid-size Ciaz sedan to take on the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna; the Suzuki S Cross, a crossover that offers an alternative to SUV buyers; a compact SUV based on the XA Alpha concept; and a bigger premium hatchback to take on the Hyundai i20 and the new Honda Jazz.

XA Alpha is the Mini SUV or Ecosport rival. S Cross is the Crossover to rival Duster/Terrano and iV 4 could be the SUV . Ciaz is the the Sedan to take on Honda City, Verna and Vento. Maruti's Premium Hatch 'YRA' will too take on i20 and Polo.
The full product range will phase in by 24 months.
To retain its existing customer base Maruti Suzuki 's small diesel engine will be developed at their Gurgaon facility and will return economy figures which will be close to 30 kmpl. The 800cc engine will take the cake for being the most petite diesel in the market and will come in the Celerio, Wagon R , etc

Re: Maruti Suzuki's new game plan

Good thread!
XA Alfa, Ciaz or S-Cross or whichever car MSIL plans to bring in India, they should not look into aesthetic changes only. Sincere request to Maruti is to think beyond 1.3 MJD which they plan to use for Ciaz and XA Alpha. Even though this mill is proven, all Maruti cars more or less drives like the same (Swift, Dezire, Ertiga, SX4 for example). At least plonk 1.6 Ltr MJD in those new cars to make them more competant, and then it will be a real upgrade in a sence for a Maruti owner to switch over to new prodcuts. For petrol, they should develope a new turbo charged engine on their own, and if Tata can develope Revotran, i don't think it cannot be done by Suzuki. For time being they can plonk the already available 1.4 Ltr petrol mill (used in ertiga) into new bigger premium hatchback or the XA Alpha, and that should give some fun to owners.
But just the cosmetic makeover will not benefit for sure in a long run.

Sincere request to Maruti is to think beyond 1.3 MJD which they plan to use for Ciaz and XA Alpha.
S Cross will be with a 1.6 diesel engine. Ciaz will have the 1.3DDIS engine, similar to the Honda city in rating. XA Alpha not sure which way will they go.
If they strike a deal with Fiat on the 1.6MJD then things would look brighter for enthusiasts. But even the 1.3 DDIS with the VFM tag will gobble volumes to make them successful.

Maruti Suzuki aims big -plans to double car models to 25; aims to sell 3 million cars per year.
We will be present in SUV segment in few months from now, a model which will be competing with Duster in that size.
It has to be something which can compete with the Duster, and in 2016 we will have a compact SUV under 4 meter, so that it gets benefit of lower excise duty and which will be in the same segment as Ford EcoSport
