In a surprise of sorts, the new Fiat Doblo, which is a seven seater MPV, has been spotted on the outskirts of Pune! The Doblo that has been spotted was wearing temporary plates and had not even a hint of camouflage. The Doblo was first launched in 2001 and has manged to sell more than a million units. Internationally, the Doblo is sold both as a panel van (called as the Doblo Cargo) and as five or seven seater passenger models, being marketed as “leisure activity vehicles.” (Trust these marketing guys to come up with anything!) It may be noted that so far, Fiat India has not talked about any plans of launching the Doblo in India. Rather, what’s headed our way is the Punto facelift, Punto Avventura and the Fiat 500 Abarth. The Fiat 500 Abarth is powered by a 1.4-liter, turbocharged, 4 pot petrol engine that is internationally available in two states of tune- 137 PS and 163 PS.

Coming back to the test mule here, its purpose of testing on Indian soil is not yet known. However, one thing we are quite sure of is that Fiat Doblo launch in India is not in the offing. In all probability, the Fiat Doblo test mule that you see here has been imported by Fiat India only to collect data by testing it on varied terrains that our country offers. It may be noted that Fiat has also been seen testing the Bravo in India. However, the Bravo never came to us and continues being used by high officials at Fiat Pune. We believe that the Doblo you see here has a similar fate.

What do you think? Should Fiat launch the Doblo in India?

What's going on in Fiat? Hope this is just a test run in the Indian soil and no plans of launching it here.

It appears company has tried to save all expenditure on the design front. At max it will be used by the tourist/small transport folks in the interiors of various states. On a lighter note, was the model named dubbo and ended up as a missspelt dublo.

Fiat Qubo and Doblo spotted in India- EXCLUSIVE

Fiat’s Qubo and Doblo have been spotted on test in India itself. These vehicles are based on the Punto’s hybrid platform itself, so maybe just maybe, the Italian automaker is contemplating or just testing them in India.

The initial plan of getting the X3U platform, which has a hatchback, sedan and an SUV has been scrapped. Now, a new hybrid platform is being developed for developing markets that will get features like European cars and will be built for road conditions like ours. The plans are still in the making and it is a bit too early to come to a conclusion.

However it is true that the Fiat brand is experimenting and testing several new cars in different segments to understand, which could be the ideal range of products for the Indian car market. The Qubo and the Doblo both are running on the Multijet engine and these could be a good range of MPVs to be introduced under the compact segment.

Why are they wearing White number plates? [thinking]

This looks like another boxy model, just like Evalia (which eventually failed for both Nissan and Ashok Leyland Stile)

Fiat testing the Ertiga Mobilio Rival in India (Doblo)

doblo.jpg

First unveiled at the 2000 Paris Motor Show, the latest generation of Fiat Doblo van has been caught testing in India. Spotted testing in Pune, near Fiat India’s Ranjangaon plant, the new Doblo MPV is offered in both 5 and 7 seater options.

hough caught on test, Fiat India has confirmed that they have no plans of launching an MPV in 2014. In a mail to Rush Lane, Fiat India have stated that they will be launching four new cars this year, of which one has been launched already – the new Fiat Linea. This will be followed by the launch of Fiat Punto facelift, Avventura and finally 500 Abarth. These cars will be launched in June, August and December respectively.

So what is the Doblo doing in India? Considering that the demand for MPVs have risen sharply over the last few years, it is very much possible that Fiat is testing the Doblo for a launch in the future, probably by 2015.

The latest generation of Doblo is available in a range of engines, including the 1.4l FIRE petrol and 1.3l MultiJet diesel, both of which are currently manufactured in India. This makes it even more tempting for Fiat India to launch the Doblo in the country.

Dimensions of Fiat Doblo stand at 4253 mm in length, 1831 mm in height, 2583 mm wheelbase and 1722 mm wide. This means, that the Doblo is wider, taller and longer than the Maruti Ertiga, which is currently the best selling MPV in the segment.

All these points indicate that Fiat has a ready-to-serve product at their disposal in the form of Doblo. Only time will tell if the Doblo will be launched in India or not. But considering the stats above, Fiat Doblo will be a worthy competitor to Honda Mobilio and Maruti Ertiga.

another report on:
Scoop! Fiat Doblo Spotted in India

The above report is an old news however, the reason I am posting this is i saw this vehicle doing rounds in Hyderabad (near Jubliee hills last night) It was a MH12 registered vehicle without any camo so probably it was one off vehicle being imported and runing on indian roads. So probably Fiat must be again mulling on the launch of Doblo once again who knows?

might succeed in the taxi market but still pricing plays a part. The ground clearence seems even lesser hatchbacks, GC is a important aspect in UV category.
