let me update on the status of the car on this public forum. As you are probably aware, my car didn't have aircon and stereo working at delivery and that 2 days after delivery, they replaced the compressor. Well, since yesterday evening (5th day of ownership), I was getting a battery charging warning (battery icon). I had tried stopping and starting the car several times, kept running for a little time, even used an OBD scanner to check for errors but there were no errors in the ECU and the battery icon didn't go away. So this morning, I decided to take the car to the ASC. On the way it stalled. Luckily, I saw an ABS
light flash just before it stalled and was prepared, then was stopped in traffic when it stalled completely. I had help in the car, so we quickly pushed to the side of the road and called the ASC which was just a couple of km away. Luckily, I wasn't at speed. Had I cleared that 200m of traffic, I would have been surely doing 50-60kmph and there would surely have been a major accident.
They came with another car to jump start but my car drove just 100m and then stalled again. The driver driving my car reported it just wasn't willing to accelerate. They finally got a spare battery and drove the car to the service centre
That does it. I called both the ASC and the Maruti regional manager and told them I was done with this car and that they should give me a replacement. But they said they would look at the car and then discuss with me. When I reached the service centre, I was so fired but that no one came and talked to me for 15-20 minutes. Fired enough that my hands were shaking in anger. After a bit, I went and talked to the work shop manager and told him to locate an empty discussion room and call me as I didn't want to create a scene.
When they called me in, I told them that
Obviously no PDI was done on this car as the non-working AC and stereo would have been detected there
The attached Nexa took too long to even confirm the car previous to payment.
We were made to wait for several hours for delivery
No demo or checklist was followed at delivery
The car ultimately delivered did not have aircon and music system working
The gas topped up into the aircon at delivery leaked off and I had to lose a whole day at the ASC on the 3rd day of ownership
On the 5th day of ownership, this battery charging issue has happened
I asked the ASC manager that if the car gives so much trouble within the 1st week, what he expected it to do in an year's time. I placed the original papers, photocopy of the same, both the keys and the user manual on their desk. Told them I had nothing left of the car with me and they should provide a replacement only. They could dig a pit and bury it for all I care. The ASC manager told me he had spoken to the Maruti western region manager and they were to inspect the car in the afternoon after which they would meet me. He said that replacing a car was not a decision he could take and that it would be a decision at Maruti's level. I asked what would have happened if I had had that accident. What would happen if another major part failed in a day or two. Rather that replacing the car part by part, they should replace the whole unit.
I am definitely not even taking the key in my hands when they come and meet me. These guys sold me a lemon, probably knowingly, and aren't man enough to admit and correct it.
When we were waiting for the ASC at the side of the road, a number of prospective buyers rolled by and asked whether the car was good and we told them to wait a bit of time before buying the car.
Posting on this forum for prospective buyers reference, not to defame anyone or any organisation. If these guys come back with a solution, I will update it here
