I am frankly of the opinion that we should have pretty much every possible safety feature there is in the market BUT there is another perspective to this whole thing!
In India the infrastructure is so bad that we can barely manage an average speed of 75kmph on highways.
Its not like we have 8 laned or 16 laned wide(which a country with our population density needs ) high speed concrete highways like the german autobahns or US interstate highways all over the country where we can zoom at high speeds all the time.
So until that happens which I don't see happening soon with the foresight & planning our govts have & all the legal wrangling between the various ministries like highways & ministry for environment over projects, the safety features in cars at least the expensive ones will be opted & used by only the elite & those who think they must have those for some reasons & ready to bear the extra added cost!
For a average common practical person & I am speaking about 80% customers they will skip most of these features which would add to 10-20% extra cost unless & until the time they know for sure they can drive at 100+kmph speeds on highways most of the time. OT
High speed rail is an even more urgent need of the hour for a country like India & there is hardly any plan to invest there. China has already invested a lot & we are still stuck in past as far as Railways is concerned. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-speed_rail_in_China
