It is still running great but the age of the car has forced me to look for a new car.
After last 6 month testing almost every car in the market, I have finalized Honda City.
I have booked my Honda City VX MT Petrol on 1 Feb and now waiting for it to be allocated.
one thing which is a bummer is not having navigation system in the car. Most of the other car provide it. Has anybody updated factory fitted 2Din player?
Just want to check for available options and if all the factory fitted accessories work with any after market solution.
I'm also sailing in the same boat... I took test drive off all sedan's and zero down on Honda City V Petrol model. I was also wondering why Honda has not given Navigation system. Never the less I'd like to share my experience of dealers in Pune, specially the one located on Bavdhan-Pashan-Baner-Wakad road on Pune-Mumbai highway. Toyota Etos :
The toyota representative was well knowledged of information of the car. Under my budget of 10L only Etios was available at Toyota. I visited 3 time DSK toyota and everytime I went to DSK toyota showroom I saw prompt respose from Toyota. In my last visit I showed Etios to my better half and her reaction was "I felt like I'm sitting in a car of 70's! The dash board is bare basic! doent give any feel of premiumsness" and My personal experience of Etios was, very impressive space & engine of the car( I drove Petrol and Diesel) I wish toyota fix their dash board and they will see some decent sales. Also Toyota doesnt have anything car in range from 7.5L to 14L in Petrol. Renault Scala:
I checked Scala. The car has huge space, took a test ride of petrol, engine is not too quick. The front look of the car is far better then Nissan sunny. However the showroom has terrible sale representatives. 3 times I went to showrooms, all the three times the sales representative was busy talking and doing other things then attending me! Was very keen to sale me 2013 car at a great discount. However over all behaviour was to sell car like selling a bread/butter. Nowere I felt I should give importance to renault by spending 10L. My wife like the car, space. All though she said it doesnt give premium feel, still its better then Etios! Hyundai Verna:
I visited 2 show rooms for Verna ( Kundan and Garve ) both did not had Petrol Verna for test ride. One promised me for Petrol test ride on Saturday and when I went to show room for test ride the car was not there! Infact he did not bother to come back to me when I was in showroom he went to other customer and when i left the showroom he called me in the evening and said I will arrange a car give meone more chance! While at other place I was given miss information about Honda city! I told him I am going to check all the sedans from all brands. He started talking about Honda city and missing features in Honda against Verna! The verna felt premium inside. My wife was very impressed by the cars interiors. However my thumb rule is "If no booking without test ride!" Both Hyundai showroom offered me Diesel verna test ride and took ride of DIesel varient at one showroom. Diesel verna put smile on my face! That car is rocket! Turbo kick is impressive. For some strange reason I felt little stress on my hand shortrun and also noticed cluth is too hard! Fiat Liena :
Honestly all though the car is good, I decided to skip this car. My office coleagues already have Fiat Liena and Fiat Palio and both are suffering from horrible Fiat service and scarecity of parts. The Fiat service center is in the same lane where my office is and I always see FIAT cars lying in the yard waiting for spares to arrive. As against most of the Hyundai/Maruti/Honda cars are repaired on same day. I've already experience Maruti & Hyundai service and I'm a happy customer of both brands. So even though the cars are good I decided to skip Fiat for now.
Ford Fiesta/Classic : Honestly I did not like the space in New Fiesta which is smaller in size then the old one. The titenium classic is something I thought a lot about but my researched showed that classic could be discontinued once the Figo sedan is launched in 2015 and classic does look bit dated. Maruti SX4 :
Went to showroom, they didnot had any SX4 on display. Maruti had so many small cars on display! The sales guy took me to their godown? (car park yard) gave me a test ride of SX4. The car is solid but does look out dated and out of the place. Gives a feeling of bulkiness but Maruti SX4 didnot clicked to me and my wife. Honda City:
Was give good treatment at showroom. Was explained the features and changes in new car in detail. I told my intentions of buying Petrol vesion. I was told that in pune Petrol version will be launched on 25th Feb and showroom will be calling me for the test ride. The sales guy offered me test ride of Diesel City just to get the feel. Diesel city is also a impressive car, though the noice level was much higher then verna. The pickup was nowhere near Verna, but was very smooth and across all the gears very consistant. My wife was very impressed by the space inside Honda city, she also liked the balanced shape of the car. She felt that Premiumness that Verna gives is also present in City, the back seat space in new city is very close to Scala. This helped me zero down on city. I dont want car that is only enjoyable to me but to my better half as well. So now I'm eagerly waiting for test ride of Petrol version. Sales guy told me waiting period for VX model of 1+ month, for V model 1 month, SV in 20 days and E and S in weeks time!
