Well, yesterday I did visit the showroom at Mangalore and had a first hand look at the City.
Impressions: Beautiful! It looked very sweet. Does not have frills and jazz from outside which is the plus for me. City looked very mature, professional and executive class car! The front mustache kind of large but I think its definitely not a eye sore. Tires looked skinny as reported, trunk area looked stylish. Still I see a arrow design and contrary to most people said, I liked 4th generation better than 3rd generation from outside too.
Inside is all different story, the car is feature rich and quality looks good overall. Very spacious in the back seat area where two adults and two kids can take a long trip very comfortably. Huge knee room is a blessing. Tall guys watch out for the back seat head room! I am 5'9" and I had just 2" to touch the roof!
SA were trying to push the diesel, I started the engine and found there was not excessive sound during idling or slight push on the gas pedal. It looked well insulated inside. Only TD would tell the real story.
Coming to the choice of variant, I will have to look for SV or V MT. There is a 50K difference and you will get; 5 inch audio integrated screen, Rear Parking camera, 8 speakers in place of 4, Alloys, Fog Lamps and Electrically fordable ORVMs with indicators. I think it justifies the 50K and most of the things listed here are anyways required stuff. If any one moving up there is a 1 Lakh difference and you would add Leather seats, Sun roof, Button start, smart key, keyless trunk opening, only thing I would miss is smart key but I think that can be passed. So finally it looks like Petrol VMT is the choice.
I was told that vehicle will be available end of feb or march beginning. Not huge rush as that of Ecosport launch! But as a customer this is good for us.
