Top 10 Hot Selling Indian Cars in March 2013

March 2013 turned out to be quite an exciting month. Renault Duster has now entered into the top ten chart and dethroned Maruti Ertiga by a margin.

Please note that the market share is based on total sales of the specified manufacturers only (i.e: High-end carmakers excluded).

Chevrolet March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

Newly introduced Sail Sedan is slowly picking up the pace. The exactly opposite can be said for the Cruze which is now fading its position.

Fiat March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

The less said, the better. There’s a drastic drop in Fiat’s sales on YoY basis. Entire nation is now awaiting for Fiat India's next big move.

Ford March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

Ford India is not going through its best times either. There’s a clear sales decline of their lineup, including the much-popular Figo.

Hindustan-Motors & Mitsubishi March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

HM-Mitsubishi, as usual, are surviving on one product each for the joint venture. Surprisingly enough, decades old Ambassador has still managed to find 500 new buyers.

Honda March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

Honda Jazz and Civic are now ‘officially’ discontinued. Amaze is coming up this month but it has already fetched 2,552 bookings!

The strategy of striking fluidic design with new features at competitive pricing has worked for Hyundai India. Just look, those figures are evidence themselves.

Mahindra & Mahindra March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

Mahindra & Mahindra’s sales continue to flourish in the overall weak market response in March 2013.

Maruti Suzuki March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

Maruti Suzuki’s market share dropped by almost 1.5% since last month. Estilo’s sales witnessed a sudden surge compared to Feb.

Nissan March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

Even though Evalia has observed a slight improvement but all in all, the sales of Nissan's trump cards (Micra and Sunny) are declining to a considerable extent.

Renault March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

If there’s anything that should be credited for helping Renault to quickly gain the Indian car market position, then it is nothing else but Duster.

Skoda March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

High time Skoda India requires to gain some momentum. Their sales trend continues to see southward direction. Hopefully, upcoming Octavia will create a buzz.

Tata Motors March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

Tata sold hardly 13 Arias in the month of March. The Safari’s sales have again settled down to 1,000~ mark after the initial hoopla for Storme is over.

Toyota March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

Toyota Fortuner is breaking its own records month on month. And the eco-friendly Prius at last found one customer after a long time.

Volkswagen March 2013 Indian Car Sales Figures

Polo’s sales are on a gradual declining mode. Nonetheless, March 2013 has been an overall positive month for Volkswagen.

Pretty tough times for auto industry. High fuel prices, higher input costs, taxes! Almost every other model has taken a dip where as HM managed to push 150% YOY change for the classic Amby [thumbsup]

Btw, for FIAT atleast MOM increase (114% and 185%) looks better [lol]

Nice one 350z, for me the standouts have been Duster, Innova and Fortuner.
Fortuner and Innova have been gravity defying!

Lets see how Duster stands up to the upcoming ecopressure , oops ecosport!

Highlight for me would be
*The increased sales numbers of Fiat, is this the effects of building it's own dealerships ?
*Bolero's numbers are quite amazing and unbelievable and also surprising to see Quanto being overtaken by it's elder brother Xylo.
*Very surprising to see Rexton generate some serious sales number next only to the segment leader Fortuner and smoking out Captiva and Fortuner in the process.
*The all new Swift platform is generating over 40K unit's which means more profit for Maruti despite it's marginal sales fall YOY.
*All new revised pricing on Indigo hasn't been able to increase it's sales numbers.
*No surprises with Renault camp with Duster covering up more than 80% of it's overall sales, need to see how much of this sales pie Ford can snatch with Ecosport.
*XUV seeing a sales decline MOM, is their a bottleneck in manufacturing or is it the demand coming down for this model?

It has to be a combination of exclusive dealerships and creating some traction in media space. In past couple of months, for various reasons FIAT was in news, be it - New showrooms opening, revealing Fiat future plans for India, introducing Jeep & Abarth brands, new adds on Radio etc. This again emphasis the fact that marketing plays a key role in reaching out to people. Hope FIAT's marketing team wakes up from slumber now and continue the momentum.

*need to see how much of this sales pie Ford can snatch with Ecosport
I am also very eager to see Ford's strategy for the above

Btw, sad to see one more good car going down - Fabia! Wonder what Skoda is planning for this car.

A much awaited thread. [thumbsup]350Z

The continuous decline in the sales of XUV 5OO this year, should be an immediate concern for Mahindra.
  • Duster has certainly eaten in to XUV's realm
  • The recent official recalls should have had a negative impact, with the infamous internet buzz on 'XUV niggles' doing no favour as well.
  • A common sight on roads, no more a fresh product
  • No more a VFM product[subjective] thanks to the price hike[read recent budget] with more options [read cheaper] available in the market

At the same time the old stalwarts -Scorpio, Bolero, Innova are still going strong.

The diesel nano is still about 2 years away.
I guess by that time the offset price with petrol and diesels will be covered.

@mods the YOY% changes for bolero are incorrect.
Thanks for the correction. Some updates on the sales of luxury carmakers:

> Volvo's sales in India are picking up slowly. They managed to sell 276 units in the first quarter of 2013.

> Audi has broken its own record again. It sold 1,104 units in March 2013 and 2,616 units in first quarter of 2013.

> Mercedes Benz reports growth of 5.3% for this quarter by selling 2,009 units. The E-Class is major contributor with a share of over 800 sales alone.
