The longest serving vehicle in series production- the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, is now the youngest vehicle in its portfolio. In its 34th year of series production, the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class continues its blazing success trail. Equipped with even more luxurious interiors, discreet modifications in design and styling, enhanced safety features, new infotainment system and a powerful 5.5 litre supercharged AMG engine to boot; the G 63 AMG made its India debut in a glitzy event at the nation’s economic capital today.

The G-Class stars in the exciting sequel ‘A Good Day to Die-Hard’ featuring Bruce Willis as the iconoclastic, take-no-prisoner cop John McClane. With its breathtakingly spectacular car chases through Moscow, the G-Class along with other Mercedes-Benz models are the ideal ‘Hero Cars’ for the hard as nails requirements of John & Jack McClane. In a first of its kind engagement, the launch of the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG in India is also the platform to announce the premier of the much awaited movie, ‘A Good Day to Die Hard’. The star studded cast also include Jai Courtney and Sebastian Koch. Released across Indian theatres this movie is being translated across 5 Indian languages and is eagerly awaited by action film buffs across the country.

The G63 AMG is available at a price of Rs 14,577,000 ex-showroom Mumbai.

Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “The G-Class has the essential attributes of a Mercedes-Benz: Dynamism, Comfort, Safety and Status. Yet its pedigree and classic form has been retained across the 34 years of its existence. The G-Class retains its shape, rugged design and the same mission to cope with extreme conditions. It’s not surprising therefore that the G-Class is called upon to serve in extreme terrains; its cult status makes it the vehicle of choice of world leaders and celebrities alike. The G 63 AMG reconciles an involving, compelling driving experience with performance, functionality and timeless appeal which is exceptional in this vehicle class. We are excited to introduce the G 63 AMG for the discerning Indian customers.”
Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studio India commented, “We are extremely proud to present the latest and fifth edition of Die Hard series, 'A Good Day to Die Hard', to the fans across India. What makes this moment truly special is our in film association with an entire fleet of Mercedes-Benz. The audience experience is bound to reach a new height when they witness spectacular car chases and stunts, that keep the never say die spirit of Die Hard intact with a touch of class of Mercedes-Benz.”
With a rated output of 400 KW (544 hp), the G 63 AMG develops maximum torque of 760 Nm yet remains extremely efficient thanks to the standard-fit ECO start/stop function. Exterior highlights: metallic paint, AMG radiator grille with chromed twin louvers, AMG wheel-arch flaring with ‘V8 BITURBO’ logo. There is an AMG exhaust system with twin chromed side tailpipes, AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels in Titanium Grey with red painted brake calipers and 275/50 R20 tyres. The stylish look is completed to perfection by the standard-fit Exterior Stainless Steel package.

As you step inside the vehicle one is impressed by the illuminated AMG stainless steel door sill panels, seats in designo leather, leather-trimmed dashboards and multi-function steering wheel as well as door centre panels in ruffled leather, headlining in anthracite Alcantara and the ambient lighting possibilities. The standard-fit chrome package with designo trim in a choice of three versions further complement the dynamic impression created by the interior which can also be specified with carbon-fibre trim. The predecessor of the G 63 AMG, the G 55 AMG was the preferred vehicle of choice by the high and mighty across the globe. It also earned rave reviews and was a big success in India.

Re: Mercedes G63 AMG launched in India at Rs. 1.46 crore!

Going through the article I really liked the last sentence of the article that says: [:D]

If a total sum of Rs. 1.46 crore is not your cup of tea, you might wanna take a look at the recently launched Force Gurkha instead

I won't buy this despite being die hard Merc fan. Feel waste of money as not even 1% of its capabilities will be used. And which idiot will take 1.46 Cr SUV on bad road ? And if it is to be then driven on good road, best to buy S Class or Jag XJL.

Give the credit where is due.. do we[;)] Its the longest production car, this has to be something special that bring its customer back..
Its one of the toughest SUV. It can go and do things that most people can't dream about. Its a specialized car for special purpose. It can be daily drive, but do you think a person spending 1.5 cr on a car compromise on ride quality, image other things?
All we can do is to drool over it. and we do, How much impractical it might be..
(I am not a marc fan, But if I love any car on marc line up.. it's not the SLS AMG, S-Class, it is this car, this car show what a car can do, and I respect the engineering)
BTW the only competitor of this car Range rover autobiography, (and cost 2.5 cr/a pop)

this SUV is one of the most bad-a** of them around. its an absolute beast to drive. and so much POWER!!! 1.46Cr is a lot of money because in that much, one can get a Porsche Cayenne Turbo or a Range Rover Sport but still there is a vintage, nostalgic charm about this beast.

yeah thats quite a good idea actually!

Well we have many such cars in India now Land Rover, Range Rover, Ferrari all almost around 2 crores ! & People do buy them in India! Just don't ask who & why! There is always somebody who has enough wealth.

BTW, the Tata Sumo Gold does look surprisingly quite similar to this Mercedes G63 AMG.

I am really curious to know how many if any of these has Merc sold in India & to whom.[:)]
