M&M Testing Base Variant Of 4WD Automatic Scorpio!

We are all aware about the news that Mahindra sometimes back had stopped production of Automatic Scorpio.But now out of the blue Mahindra has started to test base variant 4WD Scorpio Automatic! Is this the Safari Storme effect? Does Mahindra conceive that they may loose ground(market share) to the Storme,hence this pro-active move.

I guess its being tested under the name S-530, as seen in pictures.






I feel that price can shoot upto 12 lacs.

Yes but there is practically no competition at the moment for A/T 4X4 Scorpio.So I would say a very good move by Mahindra.Hope the competition also wakes up and provides 4x4 and A/T tranny in their lower specced variants!


EDIT: Since their old vendor has stopped production,this could be the all NEW A/T box sourced from Hyundai.Perhaps we may see this A/T box in XUV5OO as well in future.Tata Motors-are you listening!

seeing the pictures , i am feeling the rear is somehow bogged down with weight.

has the suspension been retuned too?

2013 Mahindra Scorpio SUV available in a new SLE 4X4 variant

Folks wanting a rugged and affordable Indian SUV with the 4X4 function have options like the Tata Safari and the Mahindra Scorpio to choose from. Talking specifically of the Mahindra Scorpio, the SUV is available with two 4X4 variants, the LX and the VLX models. While the Scorpio VLX 4X4 is a fully loaded option sitting at the very top of the variant line up, the LX 4X4 is an entry level variant that’s been stripped down suitably to be a no frills SUV that offers the critical 4X4 mode, aimed at off road enthusiasts and folks who need the 4X4 function on a day to day basis.

The big price gap between the LX 4X4 and the VLX 4X4 versions of the Scorpio means that there’s plenty of space for Mahindra to launch a more equipped version of the Scorpio 4X4 SUV. This is precisely what seems to have happened with a report carried by our friends over at CarToq suggesting that the Mahindra Scorpio 4X4 is now available in SLE trim. The folks at CarToq even go on to list out the features of this SUV, along with pricing details. The Mahindra Scorpio 4X4 SLE is said to be priced at INR 10.72 lakhs ex-showroom Bangalore.

We did some digging around on our own to confirm this story. Sadly, none of the Mahindra dealers at Bangalore seem aware of the existence of such a variant on the Scorpio. The Mahindra customer service also seems unaware of the existence of the SLE 4X4 model of the Scorpio. The same is the case with dealers at Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. All the Mahindra dealers whom Team ICB correspondents spoke to say that they have no information about the Mahindra Scorpio 4X4 available in SLE trim. All the dealers maintain that the Scorpio 4X4 is available only in LX and VLX trims, suggesting status quo.

So, we’re still not sure about the Scorpio 4X4 SLE variant actually available given the fact that the Mahindra website also throws up a blank with no such variant listed. All said, our friends at CarToq have gone ahead to list the features of the Scorpio 4X4 in SLE trim. The SUV, that’s powered by the 2.2 Liter mHawk turbo diesel engine good for 120 Bhp-290 Nm gets the following features,
* Anti-lock braking system(ABS)

* Electric wing mirrors,

* Manual air conditioning

* Rear defogger and wiper

*Fog lamps

* Keyless entry with immobilizer

* Power windows

* Power steering

* Central locking
