Honda’s Jazz-based Urban SUV concept will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show early Tuesday morning (Indian time) and a few Honda aficionados have given us a sense of whats in store by constructing digital mockups using the teaser image.

Today however, those renders can be set aside as the first press shots of the Honda Urban SUV have found their way on to the web. We can’t find out the exact source of the leak as they had spread across the web very quickly.
The future compact crossover will rival cars such as the Nissan Juke, Peugeot 2008 and the Fiat 500X. It will be built on the same platform as the Jazz, and perhaps resurrect the HR-V nameplate.
Honda have made a smaller replica of the CR-V, but the feature content is not excessive. Perhaps keeping the low cost framework in mind, designers have penned a clean and simple exterior. The headlights are shaped like a two-sided spear and the pronounced shoulder line caves into the rear door.
Rear door handles have been compounded into the C Pillar section, a design feature copied from the Nissan Juke, a direct rival.
Honda’s EarthDreams technology would power the production version, 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter engines are being speculated, but surely if this SUV is to be sold globally, it needs a diesel engine.

The size, features and the potential markets for this model can only be verified tomorrow night, but there’s no harm in predicting what maybe the outcome.
If Honda is planning an India launch, it has to be priced to beat the Renault Duster. We believe the sub-4m long future launches such as the Maruti XA Alpha and the Ford EcoSport would undercut the Renault and the Honda in pricing, so there has to be a whiff of premium to the way it drives and feels to convince customers who would then will have a bigger collection of models to choose from.

Wow,absolutely jaw dropping design. It it comes with 1.5 lt diesel engine(as soon as early next year),then Ford Ecosport and Renualt Duster will have some mighty competition. Also knowing the power of 'Brand' Honda in India,I won't be surprised if it completely sweeps the market just like Honda City,Civic and Accord did in merry good ol' days :-)

Re: Honda To Bring Mini SUV on Jazz Platform

Honda has previewed plans for a new Jazz-based SUV with this Urban SUV Concept at the Detroit motor show.

Honda has already confirmed a production version, which closely follows the sleek style of this concept. It will be introduced in Japan late this year, the US in early 2014 and Europe later in 2014.

Underpinning the 4300mm-long Urban SUV Concept is the next-generation Jazz’s platform. A third generation of the standard Honda Jazz hatchback will be launched in 2014 with the new underpinnings. A saloon is also planned based on this platform and will be targeted at emerging markets.

Each of Honda’s global regions is being given autonomy to tune it to suit local conditions. Both the exterior and interior styling are also likely to differ slightly between global markets.

Honda CEO Takanobu Ito has previously described the global small car platform as strategically very important to Honda’s bid to boost sales from about four million units to seven million annually by 2017. He called the Jazz SUV a “younger brother” to the new CR-V.

IMO, Some design cues from Jazz like the vents on rear bumper would look much better on this Urban SUV.

Honda's new compact SUV takes shape

Honda has started testing its new compact SUV, which is based on the Urban SUV concept shown earlier.

The production version of the compact SUV is expected to follow the styling theme of the concept. This new SUV is based on the 4300mm-long platform that also underpins the new Honda Jazz.

Both exterior and interior styling is likely to differ slightly between the global markets. We expect this SUV to be powered by Honda's new 1.5-litre diesel engine that does duty in the Amaze saloon. Honda is also working on a new MPV based on the Brio platfrom, which will be unveiled soon.

Re: Honda To Bring Mini SUV on Jazz Platform

Now if this comes out with the earthdreams diesel engine, as expectations go, along with i-vtec, then this should go on par with ecosports bookings. The 2 major deciding factors will be pricing(this is really tricky with amaze and upcoming city and jazz ) and honda's monthly production capacity(keeping in mind the rajasthan plant early next year).

Leaked! India-bound Honda Urban SUV

Leaked! India-bound Honda Urban SUV (production spec) patent drawings emerge

The Honda Urban SUV concept was unveiled in January this year at the Detroit Motor Show. At the time of the unveil, Honda announced that the production version would be showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show which commences for the media on the 20th of this month.

Just weeks prior to its formal launch, we find leaked patent drawings of the production spec crossover, posted by Joke For Blog.

Honda’s Duster rival is very close to the concept car.

Based on these leaks, we find that the production Urban SUV is just the concept with productionised wheels, wing mirrors and headlights. In fact, the headlights of the Urban SUV resemble that of the new CR-V, while the sloping window line reminds us of the previous generation CR-V.

We expect the Urban SUV to launch in India next year or in early 2015.

The rear-door handle is located on the window sill and the crease line blends in with the window line neatly. The front fascia of the Urban SUV sports Honda’s new “EXCITING H DESIGN!!!”, and the ‘solid wing face’ that we see on the 2014 Honda Jazz.

The City’s 1.5-liter petrol engine and the Amaze’s 1.5-liter diesel engine are no-brainers for this SUV.

Speaking of the Jazz, the Urban SUV is using the same platform as that of the 2014 Jazz, with an overall length in the whereabouts of 4.3 meters. The Urban SUV will be a global model for Honda with sales expected to start in Asia, Europe, South America and North America next year.

The Urban SUV is underpinned by the Jazz platform, so expect more than respectable fuel efficiency and interior flexibility.

India could get the Urban SUV late next year or by early 2015, and we anticipate a diesel engine in addition to a petrol motor. Expect to hear more about the Urban SUV in the coming days.

More choices the better , will not allow any one car maker to be adamant . And we consumers can rejoice .[clap]
