Well my findings or opnion is puely based on the safari which i have been using all these years. It is also based on other safari owners who happen to be my friends plus at tata workshop where i give my vechicle for servicing.
I have nowhere mentioned that storme will have all these problems but only raised a doubt weather they have improved there quality or not. I am quite sure now that tata hopefully would have sorted out these problems.
Now regarding mahindra my comment was simply based on the fact that one of the members has commented that mahindra is trying to short change customers by giving inferior suspension setup. My point being simple setup does'nt amount to inferior quality if designed well.
My inference about mahindra using good quality parts is bsed on the sales report over the years. why does scorpio sells 4-5 times more than safari when it is a common knowledge that space and handling characteristics of safari is way ahead of scorpio
6 years back i could have bought a scorpio but i bought a safari knowing its positives, but still can you explain why is there such a difference. Having a sales lead of 20-30% is understandable but 400-500%.don't you feel we are missing something very important here.
I feel over the years mahindra has managed to give more niggle free suv's that tata. That does'nt mean scorpio does'nt have problems but it would be anyday lesser than safari. I love my safari but that does'nt mean i have to defend a product which has niggles just because i own it.
RAJA lets try to have pragmative view and you only try to analyse why is this difference in sales figure.
As a lay person i feel mahindra has been doing something right somewhere. Reputations are not built overnight. It takes years plus a good word of mouth by the end users.
Regarding the second point of xuv having problems one thing i can say is that every new vechicle has problems. Now one must consider that xuv is a completely new product designed from scratch
. It is bound to have few initial niggles. But if mahindra is proactive in recalling the vechicles and sorting it out nothing wrong in it.
With regards to storme it is based on a tried and tested platform of tata aria plus i am sure many mechanical bits from the old safari, so therefore the niggles has to be less as it is a extension of a previous product.
Regarding xuv niggles
1. brakes getting changed---no where is it reported that there has been a brake failure. which indian company would acknowledge and change brake pads thrice???not defending mahindra but atleast they are trying to sort it out by if we go by the lastest reports this issue has been solved. I think this was more to do with design than quality of material used.
2. clutch plates---how many vechicles have reported this. If true then mahindra is at fault here. PERIOD.
3. POWER STEERING FAILURE--shocking but then again how many vechicles have this problem? as far as i know only one case has been reported till now. This issue also have been sorted out according to reports.
4.& 5. Well regarding led lights its bad that mahindra could'nt get circuits right the first time.
Regarding software updates it happens in all vechicles with such systems, no nothing new.
The point is that these problems are i guess solved more or less.
Please also understand that xuv was launced 1.6 years ago and storme has just been launched. So a proper comparision regarding niggles can only take place after few months when enough stormes are there in roads.
Personally speaking i feel tata may have got it right with storme regarding these niggles.
