Auto Serve 2012, the fifth edition of a focused exhibition on the automotive aftermarket business featuring automotive care, maintenance, service, parts, garage equipments and commercial vehicles, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), is to beheld at the Chennai Trade Centre from November 16–18.
R Dinesh, chairman, Auto Serve 2012 and joint managing director, T V Sundram Iyengar & Sons Ltd, said that Auto Serve 2012 is being held at a crucial time when the automotive industry is currently witnessing a slowdown. With this background, the event would demonstrate to industry and other stakeholders on enhancing profitability in the automotive aftermarket business by showcasing state-of-the-art technologies and solutions.
“The Indian automotive aftermarket is expected to grow to around US$ 9.4 billion (Rs 51,164 crore) by 2015 from its present estimated size of US$ 3.7 billion (Rs 20,139 crore). With the population of automobiles in India exceeding 110 million and growing at the rate of 10-12 percent per annum, the automotive aftermarket business in India is poised for an immense growth,” said Dinesh. “The entry of global players in the Indian automotive market coupled with major expansion plans of domestic industry would further aid the growth of the automotive aftermarket business in India,” he added.
Auto Serve 2012 is supported by over 36 leading national, regional and state level associations in India and CII expects to attract service heads of automotive companies, private and corporate fleet operators, state transport maintenance departments, managers of service stations, workshop and garage owners / garage operators, mechanics, automotive vehicle dealers, dealers of automotive products and consumers as visitors to the show.
