I never expected the Dacia to be so damn well priced. 7l looks good for this car. The French logo also adds to the value. But they should have provided a 3rd row. Ertiga would have had a competitor. Anyway, the cars good for you automobile enthusiasts but not for those who need a budget car.

Gillz, I would put it this way: Ertiga can do everything that a Duster can do but Duster can't do everything that an Ertiga can. So the choice is yours. It also depends on which one you like looks wise. The servicing costs of Renault are going to be high.

My friend enquired with Renault Udaipur and was told that the Duster uses mineral oil and the servicing costs would be around Rs. 4000 for a paid service. This is a ballpark figure for almost all cars falling within this price bracket.
I would not term Rs. 4000 for a paid service as expensive at all.

Saby, in his Ertiga ownership thread, has mentioned 1st service charges to be less than 2000. I think, that includes under-body coating of Rs. 1350 as well. So only servicing charges would be around Rs.700. Now, the paid service would cost around 2k more.

@Gillz,
Duster, Ertiga and Dzire are completely 3 different things !!
Choose according to your need and comparison does not work here.

@ kinghteider- And do you know that the service intervals for duster is 1 year then 2 year ? So by the end of the day the cost is going to be same .
And what is exactly you think ertiga can do that duster can't do ? Other then last 2 seats ?
@gilliz - If only 2 persons will be traveling I would like sclass suggest you for a nice hatch but if you want a bigger looking car just for the heck of it and looks of suv are imp then duster is a good choice . Incase you have more then 5 people even occasionally traveling I think ertiga though a squeeze will be a better choice then duster .
Go for a back to back test drive and see which you enjoy more driving and also ask for the service intervals and cost too.

I didn't know that. Then the costs would be same as you say.
Regarding what Ertiga can do extra, you have already answered. Having two additional seats is a big plus over many other cars including sedans & this flexibility is the USP of Ertiga & reason why it is selling so much.
As I have already said, it boils down to the looks. Whether to go for 5 seats with SUVish looks or 7 seats with flexibility, both at same price point is individual choice.

If I have to choose I would go for duster just because I have a family of 4 and again iam not a fan of muv of any kind . But if looks are not that IMp IMHO I think ertiga is more vfm compared to the duster .

Re: Renault Duster Now Launched at Rs.7.19 Lakh (Coverage – Pg.20)
Has any of our forum members booked Duster? If yes then what is the waiting period for delivery.Really this vehicle has shaken the market in inimitable fashion.Few days back my dad(who is not that car savvy),while watching India/Sri Lanka cricket match, asked me about this Renault Duster which he saw during the match inside stadium and boy o boy was he looking impressed with the car or not!! Infact he said that this thing is perfect package for middle class Indians. At the end of it I have to say something which I never thgought that I would say:
"WELL DONE RENAULT".

It seems no one wants to be guinea pig for Renault on this forum, hence no bookings. And Xovy, you should have told your dad that top end Duster costs same as XUV W6 & same as that of Aria Pure, I am sure, the last sentence mentioned by you above then would have been different.

Re: Renault Duster Now Launched at Rs.7.19 Lakh (Coverage – Pg.20)
When it comes to tuning Dacia models or any other car from the Renault-Nissan Alliance, for that matter, Elia is one of premiere aftermarket brands in Europe.
The German tuner offers several options for owners of the Dacia Duster small SUV, including the new 'Color Concept' and the 'Darkster' programs.
We will begin with the Color Concept that dresses the Romanian 4x4's body in a matte orange foil wrap, with the wheel arch extensions, racing stripes, new alloy wheels, the roof, front grille, mirror caps, rocker panels and the bull bar all finished in gloss black.
The same black and orange color theme can be found inside while Elia also offers a sports suspension, plus engine and exhaust upgrades.
The limited edition Darkster sports a stealthier look thanks to the matte black wrap for the body and trim pieces including the flared fenders, while the mirrors, door handles, rocker panels, front and rear bull bars, and grille are finished in chrome.
The 4x4 rolls on matte black 20-inch wheels wrapped in tires size 245/35 20, while other highlights include the quad pipe sports exhaust system, LED daytime running lights that replace the regular fog lamps in the front bumper, LED tail lamps, a leather interior and an ECU upgrade that adds 16hp and 28Nm.
