Mahindra launched their flagship product XUV5oo In Australia with a very competitive pricing.

Mahindra has today launched the vehicle in Australia with a highly competitive pricing strategy.

The front-wheel-drive seven-seat Mahindra XUV500 luxury-spec W8 model is being offered at a drive away price of $29,900, while the all-wheel-drive version will sell for $32,900 – drive away.

Mahindra also plans to introduce a lower spec, lower priced version of the XUV500 known the ‘W6’ in several months time.

Mahindra has previously declared that the XUV500 wasn’t a competitor to China’s Great Wall X200TD SUV, which sells for $26,990 plus on-road costs.

The closest competitor to the Mahindra XUV500 turbo-diesel in Australia is the Holden Captiva7 turbo-diesel in both 2WD and AWD and priced at $35,490 and $39,490, respectively. That’s a sizeable price gap between the two brand offerings, although the Captiva does come with an automatic transmission as standard equipment.

Mahindra has launched the XUV500 with a six-speed manual only, but plans to introduce a six-speed automatic transmission into the model range anywhere from eight months to two years away.

The Mahindra XUV500 has also just been awarded a four-star safety rating from the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) scoring 26 points out of total 37. The test results were a mixed bag with the vehicle suffering a loss of structural integrity in the passenger compartment and a rupture in the fuel line, according to the ANCAP report.

The XUV500 is powered by a 103kW/330Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with direct fuel injection and variable geometry turbocharging for a combined fuel consumption of 6.7L/100km and CO2 emissions of 176 grams per kilometre.

CarAdvice has also learned from a Mahindra insider that the company is also planning on launching a twin turbo variant of the XUV500, which is likely to generate 127kW of power and 400Nm of torque, although, there is no official confirmation from Mahindra Australia at this time.

The Mahindra XUV500 comes fully loaded with features such as Italian leather upholstery, satellite-navigation with a high-resolution colour LCD touchscreen, Bluetooth phone and music streaming, LED parking lamps, tyre pressure monitor and twin exhaust tips.

Overall, it’s an attractive package with attractive pricing to boot and is sure to find favour in Australia with budget conscious buyers.

Agree with you the competition is real tough, but the pricing is very intentional in an interview with caradvice Mr.Goenka had stated that XUV will be priced on par with the competitor's in every market. they don't want to portray this product as a built to cost product.

on a sidenote why do these companies (ford, mitsubuishi) inspite of having such products not launch them in india?

BTW,do Mahindra have enough reputation in Australia that they will sell XUVs in good numbers against such cars?

Rest i am sure they will be selling far higher quality there..but not for some people like me..why?Because we are Indians!![frustration]

Incorrect

The Ford Territory is not based on any other platform Its built on the Ford Falcon Platform , which is running 4.0 Litre 6 cylinder Rear Wheel Driven car comes in AWD option as well. In the above segment where its performing it has 195 Killowatts (265 Horse Power). Entirely built in Australia and goes for sale in Australia and New Zealand only

Ford EcoSports is built on the Escape side of the Ford to replace the old Ford Escape.
Ford Territory may look small its dimensions are:(in MM)
Overall length 4883
Overall height 1716
Overall width (excluding mirrors) 1898

ASX and CRV are bit smaller than the Territory .

As I said , it is a real tough game for Mahindra.

Other SUV's Mind it we call them Four wheel drives , are
Mazda CX5
Nissan Xtrail
Chrysler Jeep Compass/Patriot
Holden Captiva
Subaru XV

Mahindra launches XUV in Italy

The Mahindra XUV500 was unveiled to the European media last month and the Indian UV maker’s first global vehicle is all set to go on sale now.

The XUV500 for Europe is powered by the same 2.2 litre 140 bhp mHawk motor with the 6-Speed manual gearbox.

Only the top spec W8 variant will be available with front and all wheel drive versions. The Euro 5 compliant powertrain emits 173 g/km and 186 g/km of CO2 in the front- and all-wheel drive versions respectively.

The long equipment list include Airbags, ABS, EBD, swiveling projector headlamps, voice command, Bluetooth telephony, multi function touch screen display with navigation, etc.

Mahindra is targeting the growing European middle class in the age group between 25 and 65 years with the XUV500.

The XUV500 has an introductory price of € 22932.00 (Rs. 15.37 lakhs) for FWD and € 24983.00 (Rs. 16.74 lakhs) for AWD. The car is available with five years or one lakh kilometer warranty which is more than what some of the competition offers.
