TATA Motors has launched a Tata Xenon 4X2 Pick-up with a 2.1 Litre Multi Point Fuel Injection Petrol engine in Bolivia.

The Tata Xenon 4X2 Pick-up comes with a 2.1 Litre Multi Point Fuel Injection Petrol engine, which delivers a top speed of 145 kmph with peak power of 131HP in the single cab and double cab, with a peak torque of 195NM respectively.

Have anyone got any info about this engine? It was previously seen in the Safari when launched few years back which flunked due to poor fuel efficiency. There wan no news about this engine since past few years but has suddenly debuted in Bolivia. Reports say the this engine is already on sale in other parts of the Latin American market.

Tata Motors has forayed into the Bolivian commercial vehicle market with launch – Tata SuperAce Petrol, Tata Xenon Petrol and Tata LPT 613 truck

yes, there was this 2.1 L petrol in the late 90s.
that was the era when safari used to come with 1.9L 1948cc tcic engine producing 90bhp (Diesel). they brought this petrol for a short time as an experiment. the petrol would produce 130bhp but torque was not enough to properly propel the 2.5 ton beast (Old gen safari was significantly heavier and a tad longer than dicor & current ones.). none of the engines were good enough for safari, until the beastly 3.0 dicor (2956cc) came with 116hp, most importantly over 300nm of torque.

they also brought in a limited edition with the petrol that Came with inbuilt Sony PS2 and DVD player, rear screens etc. that used to be WOW in those years. I was maybe 10-12 years old in those days.

I wonder why Tata didn't bring the 1.9l or 2.1l engines during stupid Diesel bans of Delhi & Kerala.
