As if the recent news of Maruti Suzuki cars failing the Global NCAP crash test was not enough the parent company Suzuki finds itself involved in a fuel efficiency data scandal in Japan. It is being said that the company used methods for fuel efficiency and emission testing which were different from those recommended as per Japanese regulations.

The company does mention that the cars in other countries are not affected. However this is certain to cause some worry among Indian buyers about MSIL cars. I am not sure if this reports will prompt authorities in India to carry similar investigation here.
