Internet giant Google will be testing its driverless car in London in the near future. In fact, it would be the first time the vehicles would be tested extensively outside the US by Google, the Independent reported. Deputy Mayor for Transport, Isabel Dedring, has been meeting with Google representatives regarding the proposed scheme. ”It’s going to have to work in big cities so why don’t we start trialling it now? Google have said they are focused on the States, but they’re starting to think about going elsewhere so we’re in active discussions. We met them a few weeks ago to see whether they would do trials here,” Dedring said.

“It is still very early days but we would be keen for trials to happen in London whenever Google are ready to move them into other countries,” she added.

Last year, Google had announced its driverless car, without steering wheel or brake pedals, which is driven entirely by variety of on-board computers and sensors. Google had said that they will make nearly 100 cars like this for testing purpose.

Back in January during CES 2016, there were reports that claimed that Google has partnered with Ford to official make driverless cars.

I was imagining the driverless car in our cramped roads of India with bidirectional traffic. That would be a real tolerance test for all those sensors and Artificial Intelligence setup [lol]!.

For the First Time, Google's Self-Driving Car Takes Some Blame for a Crash

A Google self-driving car sideswiped a bus this month, the first blemish on the otherwise spotless driving record of the company's vehicles.

Google's 53 vehicles have driven more than 1.4 million miles autonomously and been in 17 crashes, but never been at fault before. The crash took place at 3:20 p.m. Feb. 14, about three miles from Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California.

Google's car was attempting to make a right-hand turn on red, and moved to the right side of a wide lane on El Camino Real to pass traffic stopped at the light. But as Google's car neared the intersection of Castro Street, its path was blocked by sandbags around a storm drain, according to a report Google filed with the California DMV.

Google's car tried to go around the sandbags by cutting into the line of vehicles on the left side of the lane. Instead, it struck a metal piece connecting the two halves of an accordion-style bus, according to a Valley Transportation Authority spokeswoman. Google said its car was going less than 2 mph and the bus was moving at 15 mph. Both parties said there were no injuries and described the crash as minor.

The 15 passengers on the bus were transferred to another bus following the accident.
