BMW has finally taken the wraps off the racing M6 GT3 at the Frankfurt Motor Show that opened its doors for the press today.
Essentially a racing version of the BMW M6 Coupe, the vehicle will be sent into action by numerous private teams from the 2016 season. The Bavarian company says the car boasts a series of improvements, mainly focused in the areas of drivability and economy.
One example is the use of a series-produced petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, while, with its centrally-positioned driver’s seat and long wheelbase, the BMW M6 GT3 offers a driving feeling “unparalleled on the racing scene.” The racing beast weighs less than 1,300 kg and has a transaxle drive configuration and sequential six-speed racing gearbox.
The BMW M6 GT3 has undergone an extensive test program on a variety of circuits. BMW also says in May 2015, ahead of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring circuit, BMW Motorsport customers from around the world were shown the BMW M6 GT3 for the first time.
