The undisguised pre-production car seen here has newly designed front and rear ends. The face incorporates Toyota's "X" styling theme with a pointy front grille and what look like LED units on the new bumper's corners.
At the back, this Altis has clear tail lamp graphics along with a redesigned bumper and a rear deck spoiler. Whether this is a regular or some kind of sports edition of the 2016 Corolla remains unknown.

Re: 2016 Toyoto Alts spied ?

Hi VM,

I have a firm feeling that its somewhat pointing more towards a modified version of Altis Corolla. Also, The front Bumpers and Rear Profile point that its more of a "RS" type of variant. Anyhow, if it makes way to India someday, then definitely it would be a great buy for those who give importance to looks and reliability both.

Just couple of days back, this "Facelift Corolla" was also seen in some safety sense video if I remember. Still a great share buddy![:)]

Corolla would have seen better sales if they launched it with a more powerful diesel engine or they reduced price.

I would say give it with a better and more powerful engine on diesel mill that it really asks for.
With the pricing that current one is sold as what toyota asks for the premium on their branding, more powerful engine is what it needs in this facelift version.

Corolla, a fuss free car. I would say, the most reliable car ever. The only thing is the underpowered diesel engine and the price. While the competition is going on with 2.0 diesels, they are still with a 1.4 diesel?? Come on Toyota... And if they get a new engine again the price will go up..

2017 Toyota Corolla Altis Facelift Revealed; India Launch Next Year

Toyota has given a mid-life cycle update to the popular Corolla Altis (Corolla in other markets) and released official images of the 2017 Corolla Altis facelift that will be going on sale in Australia early next year. The current generation Corolla went on sale in 2013 globally and its India launch was scheduled in May, 2014. The mid-life update comes at the time, keeping the model fresh on this side of the hemisphere.

The images reveal subtle yet new details on the aesthetic changes of the 2017 Toyota Corolla facelift that gets a bold appearance, part of the Keen Look and Under Priority design language. Prominent changes include the sleek looking headlamp cluster that gets reworked LED DRLs and a revised grille. The bumper is tweaked with larger three-slat air-intakes complementing the design further. A lot of familiar elements coming from the new Camry and Prius are visible on the new model. The side profile remains the same, save for the chrome finished door handles, whereas changes at the rear are restricted to LED tail lamps.

2017 Toyota Corolla Facelift Rear Profile

The changes to the cabin are not known yet, but expect to witness subtle improvements of the outgoing model. For the Australia spec version, the 2017 Toyota Corolla facelift will be equipped with a safety package comprising of a pre-collision system (PCS), lane departure alert (LDA) and automatic high beam (AHB). The systems make use of laser and camera housed on top of the windscreen to offer precise electronic aids. For the Indian version though, Toyota is likely to skip on most of these features.

Furthermore, the India spec version of the 2017 Corolla facelift will continue with the same engine options including the 1.8-litre petrol and the 1.4-litre diesel. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmission options. The Corolla facelift public debut is slated to happen in the following weeks and the updated model will be heading to India, but only in the later part of 2017.

Toyota Corolla 50th Anniversary Special Edition

Interestingly, this year also marks the 50th anniversary of the Corolla nameplate and in order to commemorate the milestone, Toyota revealed the Corolla 50th Anniversary Special Edition at the 2016 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) specific to the US market, with just 8000 units to be produced. The automaker also announced that the North American spec Corolla, which is dramatically different (and sportier), will receive a major upgrade for the 2017 model year featuring revised styling and equipment upgrades.

I found this car in our building parking. First, I thought it may be Corolla, but on a closed encounter I found it is Yaris sedan. The side profile is exactly same as Corolla. The front is also similar. The previous version of Yaris is little shorter and slightly different form factor. Now, Yaris is almost identical to Corolla. Toyota is now adopting same design creteria to Camry, Corolla and now on Yaris.
