Friends,

Competitiveness leads to new innovations. The car market globally is becoming fiercely competitive and every brand is trying to bring out a product which can effectively compete with the others in the segment.

Following the league we have BMW who has plans of bringing out a small Crossover (CUV) to rival the Audi Q1. According to various reports, the new Crossover of BMW shall be placed below the X1 and is slated to come out in 2017.

The coupe-shaped crossover will reportedly be four meters long and should provide a trunk capacity of about 330 liters, with power being provided a range of three- and four-cylinder engines. AMS says it will ride on the same front-wheel drive platform as the MINI and could later on spawn a plug-in hybrid version while a fully electric derivative is not being considered.

The day is not far, when common man would have a choice of buying an entry segment hatch / CUV from a Luxury brand, or go for a fully loaded option in SUV / Sedan / hatch, from the regular brands. [clap][evil]

I only hope, the safety aspects and quality are given utmost importance, be it any brand.

BMW Urban Cross - 2017

New details are starting to emerge about BMW's upcoming entry-level crossover that will slot below the X1.

Tentatively known as the Urban Cross and 1-Series Sport Cross, the model will measure approximately four meters long and have unique styling with a coupe-like roofline. The latter will impact the crossover's practicality as it will reportedly limit luggage space to a scant 330 liters (11.6 cubic feet).

Speaking of the interior, the cabin is expected to echo the 2-Series Active Tourer but have a more streamlined design and a new touchscreen infotainment system.

Specifications are still shrouded in secrecy but engine options should carryover from the 2-Series Active Tourer. The company could also offer a plug-in hybrid variant but nothing is official as of yet.

I don't know why BMW is following the X6 shape and making every single damn car they are planning to make look ugly. It looks like a 3 series on steroids! Rarely does a shape like this look good. I hate the X6 and find it absolutely repulsive to look at. Hope they can make this look good.
