Next-gen Audi A4 spied with no camouflage

The photos once again reveal the model will be bigger than the previous generation in order to distance itself from the A3 sedan. The test mule also shows evolutionary taillights design and a dual exhaust system.

New set of spy photos have surfaced the web showing details of the upcoming Audi A4. These details include the headlights and a shot of an undisguised interior, minus the steering wheel.

Based on the new MLB platform, the all-new Audi A4 is set to make its debut towards the end of this summer, prior to its first public appearance in the Frankfurt Motor Show. As you can see, the new headlights have adopted an extra crease to their shape, making the design a tad more aggressive when combined with the new, hexagonal grille we’ve already seen in the TT and the R8.

The interior follows the same direction we saw in the latest Q7 with a much more fluid design across the cabin. Even the gear selector for the automatic versions is pretty much the same shape with the Q7, with the controls for the infotainment resting just in front of it. We also expect from Audi to offer the Virtual Cockpit digital display we first saw in the TT as an option, for the basic models at least.

The new A4 is expected to be up to 100kg (220 pounds) lighter than its predecessor and packing a huge engine range to choose from, with rumors suggesting a hybrid Quattro version with two electric motors to be included for the first time.

New Audi A4 set for Frankfurt unveil

The first pictures of the undisguised Audi A4 have been leaked on the internet. The pictures include the first shots of the interior as well as a close look at the car's new headlamps. The exterior styling of the new A4 is based on Audi’s new design language first seen on the Audi Prologue concept.

The new Audi A4 now gets a larger hexagonal grille like the one on the new Audi TT and R8, along with all-new angular headlamps with LED turn indicators and daytime running lamps. Other styling cues include a more sculpted bumper with air ducts and a contoured bonnet.

On the inside, the new A4 will get a revised centre console with a new gear shifter and infotainment system controls. On the dashboard, the new A4 gets a new infotainment screen and redesigned climate control switches. Overall, the interior seems to bear resemblance to the one on the new Audi Q7.

The new Audi A4 is based on the second generation of Audi’s MLB platform, and will be bigger than the car it replaces and approximately a 100kg lighter. It will feature diesel, petrol and hybrid powertrains, with power ranging anywhere from 120bhp to 326bhp in the 2.0-litre TDI e-tron variant.

The new A4 is set to be revealed in August-end, and will make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The overall proportions of the model appear unchanged, but the front overhang has been shortened, likely in order to increase legroom for front passengers and improve handling. Using the aluminum pressing machine we mentioned, Audi is going to construct its executive compact lighter and stiffer. A new engine range will be introduced, and some of the mills will be downsized.

According to some reports, the smallest available will be a 1.4-liter turbo TFSI available in multiple stages of tune. The bulk of sales, however, will come from a variety of 2-liter diesel, one of which will also be combined with electric power to make the first-ever A4 e-tron.

Just like its rival from Mercedes, the C-Class, Audi's sedan will be available with more gears than ever, 9 to be more precise. It's believed that this and other measures could make the B9 generation about 15% more economical on average.

New Audi A4 engine details out

The new Audi A4 is set to be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in September this year. The new car is based on Audi’s second-generation MLB platform and will feature styling cues first seen on the Audi Prologue concept last year.

The new A4 is expected to receive a choice of seven engines internationally –four petrols (1.4, 1.8, 2.0 and 3.0-litre TFSI) and three diesel engines (1.6, 2.0 and 3.0-litre TDI). It may also get the hybrid powertrain from the A3 e-tron and an all-new diesel hybrid one as well. Transmission duties are expected to be handled by a six-speed manual gearbox or a nine-speed automatic with power being sent to the front wheels. Four-wheel drive is expected to be available as an option.

The new A4 is also expected to get a brake energy recuperation system along with start-stop technology and thermal management.

Whatever the updates might be first of all I just want them to ditch the CVT and that boring and slow diesel engine and the front wheel drive. Guess what, they retain all of it except the CVT i think I'm not sure.

New high-efficiency engine from Audi for next-gen A4

new high-efficiency engine from Audi

New 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder engine with innovative combustion method
Top figures: 190 hp, 320 Nm (236.0 lb-ft), less than 5 l/100 km (47.0 US mpg)

To be implemented in the new Audi A4 by the end of 2015
Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg: “A prime example of the Audi rightsizing strategy”
2.0 TFSI with 140 kW (190 hp)
2.0 TFSI with 140 kW (190 hp)

Audi presents the most efficient two-liter gasoline engine in its class. The new 2.0 TFSI with 140 kW (190 hp) demonstrates the engine expertise of the brand – with a ground-breaking new combustion method. Audi will be using the engine for the first time in the next generation of the A4.

Over ten years ago, Audi was the first manufacturer worldwide to bring the TFSI engine with turbocharging and direct injection into series production. This made the brand with the four rings the trendsetter in downsizing and downspeeding. “We’re now taking a crucial step further with rightsizing,” said Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development at AUDI AG. The reduction in displacement and engine speed can be optimally effective only if reasonably related to the vehicle class and the customers’ everyday use, explains the Technical Director. “Rightsizing thus involves the optimal interplay of vehicle class, displacement, output, torque and efficiency characteristics under everyday conditions. Our new 2.0 TFSI is a prime example of Vorsprung durch Technik.”

The four-cylinder engine draws 140 kW (190 hp) of power and 320 Nm (236.0 lb-ft) of torque from a displacement of 1,984 cc. Because the high torque is applied in a wide speed range of 1,450 to 4,400 rpm, every customer will benefit from the constantly accessible, high pulling power of the engine. The engine also boasts of groundbreaking low fuel consumption levels. With consumption levels less than 5.0 l/100 km (47.0 US mpg) in the NEDC, the four-cylinder engine clearly undercuts its predecessor and comparable competitors.

Technology in detail:

The breakthrough of the 2.0 TFSI lies in a new combustion method. At its core its principle is comparable to the Miller cycle. Audi engineers have further developed that method in crucial ways, however. The increase in efficiency is based on the following factors:

The intake time has been significantly shortened (140° crank angle (CA) rather than 190 to 200° CA).

Owing to a higher boost pressure on the inlet side, the engine attains optimal cylinder charges despite the shorter intake time.
The intake valve also closes earlier – well before the bottom dead center is reached. This lowers the medium pressure, allowing a high, efficiency-boosting compression ratio.

In the partial load range, an additional injection upstream from the intake valve yields an efficient mixture formation that is already complemented by the direct injection in the intake manifold and in the combustion chamber.
The Audi Valvelift System (AVS) on the inlet side allows a short intake time at partial load and a longer time at higher loads (full load: 170° CA).

Dr. Stefan Knirsch, Head of Engine Development at Audi, sums up the benefits of the new engine: “Thanks to this rightsizing approach, the new engine enjoys the consumption benefits of a downsizing engine in partial load operation, while at higher loads it has the advantages of a large-displacement engine. The result is optimal efficiency and performance characteristics across the entire engine speed range.”

Beyond the new combustion method, the new engine, with a weight of only about 140 kg (308.6 lb), avails itself of other efficiency technologies. For example, the coolant flow is controlled so as to greatly shorten the engine warm-up time. Contributing to this benefit is also the exhaust manifold, integrated in the cylinder head. The consistent reduction of friction as well as the use of low-friction engine oil (0W-20) also increases efficiency.

The comprehensive package of high-tech solutions makes the new 2.0 TFSI a real high-efficiency engine that sets a new benchmark in its segment. Audi will be introducing the new generation of engines first in the new Audi A4, and then in other model series.

Audi A4 Sedan (B9) Seen Lapping Nurburgring ahead of Debut!

Audi is going to put the all-new A4 sedan into production later in 2015. It's the biggest launch scheduled this year after the Q7.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwzLGk_9aVs

The A4 sedan prototype can be seen driving on the grueling Nurburgring test track with way too much camouflage considering the launch of the car is scheduled to take place a few months from now.

Based on the fact that it only has one exhaust system, we can presume that this is the A4 ultra model, streamlined for efficiency and low CO2 emissions.

The most basic A4 models are said to adopt the familiar 1.4 TFSI turbo, borrowed from the smaller A4 and adapted for this application. However, most buyers will opt for one of the 2.0 TDI variants, one of which will be part of the A4 e-tron plug-in hybrid.

OH MY GOD! It is absolutely beautiful from the back and side. But when I saw the front, It looks as if they have tried to make it looks like a Maserati but failed miserably.

Buddies,

Audi plans to bring Estate version of A4 and possibly the A6 too if all things fall in place for them.

If all goes to plan, Audi could eventually be looking at bringing Avant versions of both the A6 and the A4 to India, a huge step.
