Renault Sport has released a video showing how the R.S. 01 came to a reality. Designed in only five months, the R.S. 01 racecar will compete in this year's newly established one-make Renaultsport Trophy championship within the World Series by Renault. It benefits from a carbon fiber monocoque which meets FIA's LMP1 standards and the entire car weighs less than 1,100 kg (2,425 lbs).

Co-developed with Nismo, the racecar is powered by the Nissan GT-R's twin-turbo V6 3.8-liter engine which in this application delivers 500 bhp (373 kW) - 550 bhp (410 kW) & 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque and is reliable enough to last for two full seasons. All that power is channeled to the rear wheels through a Sadev 7-speed sequential gearbox which enables the R.S. 01 hit a top speed of more than 186 mph (300 km/h).

Renault has previously mentioned deliveries of the £282,000 R.S. 01 will kick off in March
