2016 Hyundai Elantra Sketch Revealed

Hyundai has released the first teaser image with their all-new Elantra sedan. The teaser shows a big difference in the design of the car compared to the outgoing model. With the Storm Edge design language, the company seems to have moved things a notch up.
From what we can see, there's a large hexagonal front grille and the headlamps look as if they've taken inspiration from Jaguar. Chrome accents adorn the fog lamp housing and the car gets a set of new alloy wheels.

Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer at Hyundai said, "The all-new Elantra captures the car's unique design characteristics that really place this model in a class of its own. The subtle and innovative appearance enhancements reflect Hyundai's vision for design. Furthermore, this car indicates a move from traditional to modern styling by communicating the new model's comfort, fashion and sporty feel."

We can also notice the sloping roofline and the prominent character lines, rakish windscreen and a chrome strip on the bottom half of the windows. Hyundai is coy about the engine options that will be made available on the car and that information will be out soon.

The word out on the street is that inside the cabin, the new Elantra will come equipped with an Infinity infotainment system which will support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The company is likely to reveal the car at the LA Auto Show in November this year and expect the car to come to India at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.

- Appealing active character lines and creatively designed wheel arches

August 19, 2015 – Hyundai Motor is excited to provide customers a glimpse of the forthcoming All-new Elantra’s modern looks and unique design ahead of the car’s launch just around the corner. The new model’s dynamic and sleek style received the approval of a recent consumer study, where the Elantra’s striking appearance saw it ranked ahead of key rivals.

Designers of the All-new Elantra identified a series of innovative design aspects that give the car an unrivalled status and unique presence. Clever use of active character lines evoke a dynamic, stylish and confident appearance, building on the global popularity of the model.

Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer at Hyundai Motor Company said: “The All-new Elantra captures the car’s unique design characteristics that really place this model in a class of its own. Furthermore, this car indicates a move from traditional to modern styling by communicating the new model’s comfort, fashion and sporty feel.”

In the newly released exterior rendering, the car’s innovative design points become clear. Noticeably, the large hexagonal grille is paired with slim and sporty headlights for a feeling of energy, while clean and refined surfaces build on the active stance of the All-new Elantra. Additionally, wheel arches with a goal of expressing the car’s dynamic road presence, help to set the new model apart from other compact sedans.

As seen in the official teasers and IAB’s rendering, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra gets a sleek pair of projector headlamps flanking a wider and angular 6-point grille with bold horizontal slats. The lower fascia also features boomerang elements that house round foglamps.
The side profile has a strong shoulder line from the front wheel arch, new C-pillar design, and 16-inch alloy rims, while the rear sports large taillamps with interesting LED clusters, a sculpted spoiler and a new bumper design. Reports suggest that the body of the new Elantra is one of the most aero-efficient in its segment, with a low drag coefficient of 0.27 Cd.

Also revealed is the interior of the 2017 Hyundai Elantra, which features a toned-down design that draws cues from the 2015 Hyundai Sonata and 2016 Hyundai Tucson. It now comes with a chunky 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, new instrument dials, dull silver garnish on the dashboard and pedals with aluminum inserts. Also equipped is an 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system in the center, with support for Bluetooth connectivity.
Power is likely to be sourced from the 1.6-liter T-GDi engine from the 2016 Hyundai Tucson, which makes 175 hp. It is paired to Hyundai’s new seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. As for a diesel option, it could also source the new 1.7-liter diesel engine, which delivers 141 hp and 340 Nm of torque in the Hyundai Sonata, and is also mated to a 7-speed DCT.

I don't think so, it will be costlier at least by 1-2L. Its powered by 1.6L diesel mated to 7- speed dual clutch transmission. They have reduced the NVH by adding thickened glass, re-designing the wipers, and new rear-wheel guard materials. All these improvements are bound to increase the price but I hope it will be cheaper than Octavia
