It is not only having Airbags in your cars, how will you ensure its reliability over passing years !
Japanese carmakers are mulling the idea of introducing expiration dates for airbags, the head of the country's auto industrial body said today, after millions of cars around the world were recalled.

Amid worries that air bag manufacturer Takata still does not know the root cause of the problem, the finger of suspicion is pointing at a gradual deterioration, rather than a manufacturing fault.

Re: Airbags May Come With an Expiry Date in the Future

Technically I feel its a good thought but once its expired then it needs to be purchased and re-fixed so how many times does one spend money on changing the airbags? Even if its annual even then the idea seems to be expensive on pocket.

Takata don't know the root cause and suggesting for expiry of airbags are contradictory statements. Just try to escape from the real problem and becoming like a business opportunistic [anger].

The cost of airbag for driver & co-driver would be around Rs 60,000. Now understand the business behind this statement. As a poor consumer, we still have to pay for our own safety[frustration].
