Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 AMG Spotted

The GLE 63 AMG has recently been spotted testing without any camouflage. Based on the Concept Coupe SUV, the GLE 63 AMG follows the new Mercedes Benz design language and features an aggressive front fascia. It sports a single slat grille with a large three-pointed star logo in the centre. It also gets a ventilated hood, plastic body cladding and side steps with metallic accents. At the back the GLE 63 AMG gets a four-pipe exhaust system and a rather large rear spoiler. But the beauty of the GLE is in its swooping coupe-like roofline.

Details of what engine the Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 AMG will sport are still sketchy and while the Stuttgart based car maker recently brought in a new 4.0-litre V8 twin turbo, the GLE is expected to come with a 5.5-litre V8 twin-turbo. This engine currently produces 535PS of power and 700Nm of torque. This engine might just be upgraded for the GLE 63 AMG.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 AMG, when it is launched will go up against the likes of the BMW X6M. While there is no confirmation about the launch or official unveil, we expect it to debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.

Mercedes has officially unveiled the GLE Coupe. Designed to tackle the BMW X6, the GLE Coupe is billed as a "striking" combination of a coupe and a crossover. The GLE 450 AMG adopts an aggressive AMG body kit and 21-inch lightweight alloy wheels. The model also has an AIRMATIC air suspension, an adaptive damping system and an automatic lowering function which reduces the ride height at higher speeds. The engine configuration of GLE will be 350 d 4MATIC with 258 PS (190 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque, the GLE 400 4MATIC has a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that develops 333 PS (245 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. Last but not least, the aforementioned GLE 450 AMG has a more powerful twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that produces 367 PS (270 kW) and 520 Nm (383 lb-ft) of torque.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe has been caught on camera for the first time.

Judging by the front end that features a lot of chrome details and a larger single bar, seen in this video is probably a version different than the GLE 450 AMG. The filmed vehicle also has a different set of wheels compared to the AMG range-topping variant.

The model is expected to reach the market in July 2015 with a handful of different engines. The 350 d 4MATIC will serve as a base modification and will offer 258 HP (190 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque, while the GLE 400 4MATIC will have a maximum output of 333 HP (245 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque from a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine.

Mercedes-AMG have released a teaser video of their GLE 63 Coupe scheduled for a full reveal next week in Detroit at 2015 NAIAS. The mystery on the power for GLE 63 Coupe could possibly receive the twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine. If this turns out to be true, the motor will deliver somewhere along the lines of 462 HP & 600 Nm as in the AMG GT. There could also be an S version with slightly more power, following the same philosophy as the AMG GT S which packs 510 HP & 650 Nm. The same engine also resides inside the C63 where it generates 476 HP & 650 Nm while in the C63 S it pumps out 510 HP & 700 Nm.

Mercedes has unveiled the new GLE63 AMG S Coupe.
A twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine resides under the hood and produces 577 bhp (430 kW) and 561 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission and a rear-biased 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds.
Speaking of performance, the GLE63 AMG S Coupe features an AMG Ride Control sports suspension, an Active Curve System and a Sports Direct-Steer steering system. There's also a high-performance braking system with ventilated and perforated discs that measure 5.4" x 1.4" front and 13.6" x 1.0" rear.

So GLE went from a X6 competitor concept to a facelifted ML ?

New Merc name system means all suv types will start with G or GL. And since ML supposedly is based on E class platform it will be called GLE.
Like the GLA based on the A class.

I want to clarify the confusion. The ML with just Led headlight upgrade is renamed GLE.
The GLE shown in the begining of this thread is GLE Coupe which will be BMW X6 competition.
But i never knew just cos the same model is facelifted they needed to redo homologation. Maybe because they decided to change the name the rule says they have to?

The Mercedes GLE is the facelifted version of the M Class, and it will be launched in India on October 14, 2015. The GLE will be locally assembled at Mercedes’ factory in Chakan, Pune with CKD kits.
