Heding up the list it will come the the high tech 10 speed DSG -the box, which is designed for peak torque of 550Nm, will make its way into the Golf Mk8 GTI, GTD and R.

Keeping the green trend, VW is currently investigating the possibility of adding ‘Mild Hybrids’ to its small-engined petrol Golfs. If the tech gets the green light, it will appear in the Mk8.

In golf VIII VW wants to once again save between 35 and 75 kilograms depending on the model: More aluminum, more high-strength steel, a leaner and more rigid body structure, slimmed ancillary components (radiator, air conditioning ) and lighter batteries in the e-Golf and GTE. The golf design to be modern and functional at the same time, to quality than before and broader basis with respect to the number of variants.
A new seating system, the longer wheelbase and compact front body create more space for up to five people. In today's Golf VII plays three cylinder has no role in the sequel, however - as the 1.4-liter TDI with 105 hp and a first one-liter TSI with 116 PS.
In most other engines only relatively minor adjustments are provided to the top. So the gap between the weakest 1.4 TSI is with then 150 hp and 220 hp GTI closed by a 180-hp 1.8 TSI. As a replacement for the 2.0 TDI with 184 hp, a high-torque by 20 Newton meters variant is provided with 190 hp.

Next gen 2019 VW Golf GTI to output 300 hp

The Mk7 VW Golf GTI has just crossed two years since its launch, and already rumors of an eighth generation model are picking-up steam.

According to Automobile, the next generation Volkswagen Golf GTI will produce around 300 hp, which represents a big leap from the current model’s 210 hp output (US-spec). If true, it will be more powerful than the current top variant, the 292-hp Golf R AWD. The engine powering the 2019 VW Golf GTI could be a revised version of the 2.0-liter turbo unit or a narrow angle V6 motor.
Also on the cards is a 400 hp Golf RS, similar to the current generation VW Golf R400 concept, which has been green-lighted for production. Other rumored variants include a hybrid/EV (like the Golf GTE). Volkswagen could retain the six speed manual transmission for driving purists, and also offer improved automatic DSG gearboxes routing power through an electronic limited slip differential. Another report put a 10-speed DSG on the next gen Golf, capable of handling up to 550 Nm torque.

The Mk8 VW Golf will be based on the MQB-Evo platform, and could be around 40 kg lighter than the outgoing model, further improving its performance credentials.

The next generation Golf lineup will not be making an appearance before 2017.
