Buggati Veyron's successor has been caught testing in the Southern part of Europe. The test mule is based on the Veyron Super sport; the model could be called as "Chiron" and is expected to produce up to 1,500 PS (1,103 kW) which might set the new benchmark.

The Bugatti Veyron is almost gone. Coupes, roadsters, Vitesses, Super Sports are all spoken for—not to mention the 30 different special editions. Bugatti started working on the Veyron replacement four years ago, a coupe likely to be called Chiron (pronounced Shir-on).

With about 1,500 hp and a 0-62 mph acceleration time under 2.5 seconds, the new Chiron will be lighter and more responsive and handle better than its predecessor, After considering several drivetrain options, carrying over the 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged W-16 engine made the most sense. To push power output from 1,200 to 1,500 hp, direct fuel injection is introduced and boost pressure is increased, with at least two of the four turbochargers now powered electrically. The fast-acting e-turbos should promptly provide torque—likely to peak again around 1,100 lb-ft—which will be delivered via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and dispersed through torque-vectoring, all-wheel drive.
The unconfirmed top speed of this monster coupe is 288 mph, making it some 18 mph faster than the Veyron Super Sport. Active air deflectors will help the Chiron get up to that speed, and carbon-ceramic brakes and a massive rear wing that acts as an air brake will help slow it down.

Bugatti Chiron (Veyron successor) could hit a top speed of 463 km/h

With the end of the Bugatti Veyron’s production, the rumormill on the successor (reportedly called the “Chiron”) is picking up steam. Given the Veyron’s achievements over the years and what it represents in the supercar industry, the Chiron has some pretty big shoes to fill.

At the VW Group Night in Geneva, Wolfgang Dürheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles had confirmed (sort of) that the 8.0-liter W16 engine will be retained in the Chiron, albeit slightly updated.
Reports suggest that Bugatti engineers are targeting to extract no less than 1500 hp from the engine, which eclipses the power output of every hypercar except the Koenigsegg Regera. The power bump comes courtesy of new electric turbochargers, a technology pioneered by sister brand Audi.

n terms of top speed, Bugatti is looking to beat its own record of 431 km/h, set by the Veyron SuperSport, and reach 463 km/h. So expect slick aero upgrades and immense stopping power for the Chiron to handle such speeds in the smoothest way possible.
Bugatti fans will have to wait until next year for the first sightings of the most awaited hypercar. Similar to the Veyron, the Chiron will be built in limited numbers at Bugatti’s production facility in Molsheim, France.

2017 Bugatti Chiron expected to cost over USD 2.5 million

The successor of the highly revered Bugatti Veyron is in the works, which will feature a new design, better materials and more power (of course!), enabling it to reach record-breaking top speeds.

Although the name hasn’t been confirmed, the internet seems to have christened it “Bugatti Chiron,” paying homage to one of Bugatti’s racing drivers, Louis Chiron.

According to the many renders that float around the web, the Bugatti Chiron is expected to feature a radical design that is aero-efficient and also represents an evolution over the aged design of the Veyron. The interior will also be uplifted to offer clients the best in hypercar luxury, with respect to trim materials, leather upholstery and design.

One of the main talking points of any Bugatti is the power plant. At the VAG night in Shanghai, Bugatti partially confirmed that the 8.0-liter W16 engine will be retained in the Chiron. It will, however, be tuned to produce no less than 1500 hp, thanks to upgraded tech and components, says reports.
With a revised W16 engine engine and aerodynamic body work, the Chiron is capable of reaching speeds faster than the record-holding Veyron SuperSport. Reports speculate that it can touch a maximum speed of 463 km/h.

Since Bugatti is a niche manufacturer that caters to the super wealthy, the Chiron is expected to be priced accordingly, which could be over USD 2.5 million (INR 15.88 crore). As far as launch is concerned, the initial units of the Bugatti Chiron could be delivered in 2016.

Friends,

As VW has been hit with the Emission scandal both in terms of reputation and financially, It has decided to call off the projects that are not essential and go ahead with projects which are absolutely essential. Among some of the non-important projects are VW Phaeton and a replacement for the Bugatti Veyron. VW intends on serious note, not to invest in the super car brand.

Volkswagen CEO Matthias Müller recently announced anything that isn't "absolutely necessary will be cancelled or postponed" and then followed up by suggesting that Bugatti was one of the makes under scrutiny.
That has raised a number of questions about the fate of the Bugatti Chiron but it's apparently safe for the time being as the company told Jalopnik "everything will continue as planned."
Bugatti has only provided a few hints about the model but they have already confirmed it will feature styling inspired by their Vision Gran Turismo Concept. Additional information should be taken with a grain of salt but reports have suggested the car will cost approximately $2.5 million and feature a quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine that uses e-turbo technology to produce approximately 1,500 bhp (1,118 kW). If these numbers pan out, the car could rocket from 0-60 mph in about two seconds before hitting a top speed in excess of 280 mph (450 km/h).

A couple of prototypes of the Bugatti Chiron wearing the production body were spotted roaming the public roads. Gone is the bulky rear end of the Veyron as Bugatti’s new masterpiece looks substantially sleeker and it’s easy to notice the design similarities with the spectacular Vision Gran Turismo concept that debuted last month in Frankfurt. There are actually two prototypes and these have different taillights, but most likely both of them are provisional and won’t make it to the production car set to be unveiled next year. The rest of the car seems ready to hit the assembly line in Molsheim, France and as you can see it has a prominent rear wing and a central fin that extends from the roof to the hypercar’s back. Many of the bits and pieces will be made from carbon fiber to compensate the added weight commanded by the hybrid setup boosting total output to somewhere in the region of 1,500 PS (1,103 kW) coming from the W16 8.0-liter quad turbo engine said to take advantage of e-turbo tech. The Bugatti Chiron is expected to show up in March 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show and it is believed only 500 units will be made, with each carrying an eye-watering starting price of $2.2 million which will make it around $1 million more expensive than its predecessor. Despite the exorbitant price tag, it is believed a “double-digit number of clients” have already placed an order for what will be the fastest production car ever made as Bugatti is targeting a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in a little over 2 seconds and a 280 mph (450 km/h) top speed.

Bugatti has announced the Veyron replacement will be called “Chiron” and will celebrate its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016. The new model has received this name as a tribute to Louis Chiron, a Bugatti works driver during the 1920s and 1930s. The company mentions he was the best racing driver in the world in his time and he’s name is more closely linked with Bugatti’s history than any other racing driver.
As for the vehicle itself, it’s being described as the “world’s most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive production super sports car" ever. Bugatti is well underway with the marketing work and have already managed to write down more than 100 pre-orders. The hypercar is currently undergoing final testing with a few prototypes on the roads in several continents to make the necessary fine tuning. Bugatti mentions these prototypes are being tested on a variety of roads and in different climate conditions all part of a rigorous testing program that is unprecedented in this segment. This is necessary to make the Chiron “significantly better” than its predecessor, according to the company’s President Wolfgang Dürheimer.
The Chiron is believed to get 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels teamed up with tailor-made Michelin Pilot Sport PAX tires. It will apparently have 420-mm front and 400-mm rear brake discs, along with 15 radiators to ensure proper cooling of the mighty W16. Several design prototypes are seen wearing most of the production bits and pieces showing essentially a toned down Vision Gran Turismo concept.
While the Veyron was limited to 450 units, production of the Chiron is expected to be capped at 500 cars. Chances are this number also includes the Chiron Targa reportedly set for a 2018 release.

Geneva International Motor Show 2016: Bugatti Chiron – world premiere for the ultimate super sports car

Bugatti is celebrating a world premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show: the French luxury brand is unveiling the Bugatti Chiron, the most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive production super sports car in the world. The Chiron is the latest generation of the ultimate super sports car and is a completely new development. The sports car manufacturer from Molsheim, with its long tradition, has taken the unique features of a modern Bugatti to a new level and developed a high-performance machine that has become significantly better in every respect. With a power output of 1,500 HP, unprecedented for production vehicles, an exceptionally high torque value of 1,600 Nm between 2,000 and 6,000 rpm and a wide variety of technical innovations, the Chiron sets new standards in every respect. The Chiron is therefore very well-positioned to become the next world speed record holder and reach a maximum speed significantly above the record currently held by Bugatti. The manufacturer has limited the maximum speed of the new car to 420 km/h for road use. The Chiron is to be built at the company’s headquarters in Molsheim. Only 500 of these exceptional cars are to be produced. The basic price is €2.4 million net. Currently, advance orders have been received for one third of the total production run. The first vehicle is due to be delivered to a customer this autumn.

“It is part of human nature to cross boundaries and set new records – to run 100 m faster than ever before, to fly even further into space and to enter new realms. This striving is also our driving force at Bugatti,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S., at the presentation of the Chiron. “The Chiron is the result of our efforts to make the best even better.”

With the Chiron, the Bugatti President said that Bugatti had left the dimensions which define the operations of all market players and had established new paradigms that had previously not existed. “Bugatti has tested the limits of physics. There is no area where we have not achieved significant improvements.“

The Bugatti Chiron is the world’s first super sports car to bring 1,500 HP onto the road with a torque of 1.600 Nm at 2,000 to 6,000 rpm with tremendous effectiveness, extremely high safety levels and unprecedented comfort.

This is the result of the legendary and unique eight-litre W16 engine that has been newly developed by Bugatti. In combination with the four new, larger turbochargers that are controlled by the Bugatti two-stage turbocharging, an innovation that Bugatti is introducing, and a large number of other technical refinements and innovations, maximum performance is available constantly and can be easily controlled at all speeds. In its Top Speed mode, the car reaches the maximum speed of 420 km/h, limited for road use – however, this is by no means the end of the road for the Bugatti Chiron.

With the new carbon fibre monocoque, a newly designed adaptive chassis, tyres developed especially for Bugatti and other innovative technologies, the Chiron is not only a champion in terms of maximum acceleration but is, for the first time, also an agile, modern Bugatti with handling that ensures maximum driving pleasure.

The design of the Chiron combines significantly more “beast” with a very high level of “beauty”. The design language introduced by Bugatti with the Chiron has a significantly more aggressive tone and does justice to the character of the new super sports car. The designers have succeeded in reinterpreting Bugatti’s DNA with its distinctive features in a modern manifestation at the same time as adding new features resulting from the technical demands of even higher performance. The Chiron remains unmistakably a Bugatti.

“The Chiron is the quintessential ultimate super sports car: ultra-modern, incredibly fast, agile and powerful with a stylistically demanding design and the highest possible levels of comfort,” says Wolfgang Dürheimer. “This combination is not offered by any other market player and gives Bugatti its unique market position.”

“Our customers form an exclusive group of automobile collectors who are searching for the very best. With the Veyron, they have the best production sports car of the past 10 years,” Dürheimer continues. “This is why their demands and expectations for our next step – the Chiron – were so high.“

Customers’ reactions show that Bugatti has hit the mark. Advance orders have already been received for one third of the production series. “Those who have already considered Bugatti and its unique features in connection with the purchase of a Veyron will find there is no way they can ignore the Chiron,” according to Wolfgang Dürheimer.

“With the Chiron we will not only be providing a key emotional element for the image of the Volkswagen Group but will also be making a positive contribution to Group results,” says Wolfgang Dürheimer.

The Chiron can be seen on the Bugatti stand in Hall 1 at the Geneva International Motor Show from March 1 to 13.
