While the Renault Duster may only be a year old in the Indian market, it is fast approaching it’s mid-life crisis stage internationally, wherein it is due to get a facelift.

The Duster facelift was recently spotted by Yves, an Auto Plus reader, somewhere in Toury, France. Logically, Dacia’s version would get the refresh before Renault’s version.

Unfortunately the spyshot of the rear doesn’t give away any changes. The taillamps could be re-profiled and there are chances that they extend into the tailgate but that remains unconfirmed. The tailgate is camouflaged making us suspect that there could be some mild modifications.

The Duster facelift is sure to have some noticeable changes at the front end. The headlamps could be new and it goes without saying that the compact crossover SUV would be adorning a redesigned bumper. The magnitude of interior changes remains to be seen.

The powertrain options are most likely to be retained but you can expect minor improvements in the efficiency and emission.

In India, the Duster has been enjoying a monopoly in the compact SUV market but things are gonna change quickly. The Ford EcoSport is just a few days away and the Duster’s own sibling, the Nissan Terrano is also around the corner. So, a mid-life refresh is must for the Duster in order to guard its fort.

The facelifted Duster is expected to be in attendance at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Renault (Dacia) Duster facelift will be a comprehensive exercise to take on the Ford EcoSport

The Renault Duster has become the best selling car model of the Renault group (including the Dacia Duster) but that is not an excuse to go for an half hearted facelift attempt.

The crossover SUV based on the Logan platform has been here for quite sometime and we know that the French car maker is preparing the facelift of the car. We even brought you few spyshots earlier.

The French daily La Tribune reports that the Duster will undergo an extensive facelift. The front of the car is likely to be revamped, perhaps as previewed the Duster DCross concept that was unveiled at the Sao Paulo Motor Show last year.

The report also adds that the interior of the car will also get significant improvements. The dashboard is expected to be revised and the trims and upholstery would get plusher. The NVH package is also said to be improved. The test mule spotted had its rear fascia camouflaged too hinting at a possible improvement.

The powertrains would be tweaked to reduce the CO2 emissions and to enhance the fuel economy. The improvements would come without disturbing the pricing much.

The facelift Duster (probably in Dacia avatar) is expected to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

The Ford EcoSport is launching in India today and that means the Duster’s year long monopoly in the sub-continent comes to an end. Moreover, its sibling the Nissan Terrano would be here shortly, making it inevitable for Renault to get the Duster facelift here at the earliest.

Spied: 2014 Renault (Dacia) Duster Spotted in Europe

The new 2014 Duster a few weeks ago and now have a new set of pics of a partly camouflaged Duster doing its hot weather tests in southern Europe.Considering that Renault is running these test mules with front and rear camouflage, the 2014 Duster will be a facelift which will come with a new refreshed face and a few tweaks to the rear.

Duster has been a Dacia product actually and it has been on sale since 2010. Back in India Renault has just slapped its moniker since Dacia is not present here. It has been exactly a year since Duster was launched in India and it has seen a tremendous response and has been the French manufacturer’s mainstay in the stables.

However, with growing competition from all sides, including the latest very well priced rage, EcoSport and the upcoming Nissan Terrano, we can expect Renault to consider launching this updated Duster in India in some time.

Dacia will showcase this facelifted 2014 Duster at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year. Renault also exports right hand drive Duster’s from its Chennai plant in India. It would be interesting to see how people respond to this facelifted Duster vis-a-vis EcoSport and Terrano, if Renault decides to bring it to India anytime soon.

Hmm, as expected,Renault has started doing it's homework.

Duster as a product is quite competent, with few shortcomings like below-par cabin and heavy clutch. These few nick-nacks could be eleminated and the product should be repositioned at a more competitive price-tag to meet head on with Ecosport and other CUV's heading to India.

Official: Dacia (Renault) Duster facelift to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show

Renault has confirmed that the Dacia Duster facelift will be making its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show which opens for the media on September 10th.

The Duster has been a huge success for the automaker and is sold under the Renault and Dacia badges depending on the markets. The Nissan Terrano, which is a re-skinned Duster, is getting ready for its market launch in India.

Apart from the usual cosmetic touches, you can expect the Duster to have an extended equipment list to fight it out with the newly arrived rivals. The interior is also likely to undergo minor revisions and may get improved materials.

The Duster is expected to retain is powertrain options but expect improved fuel economy and reduced CO2 emission. The 1.5 litre K9k diesel engine will continue to remain as the important engine option for European markets.

Renault India would do good by getting the refreshed model here soon. Especially when you consider that the Ford EcoSport took the Indian market by storm, and the fact that the Duster is more or less the sole bread winner for the brand in India.

Apart from the Duster facelift, Renault will also unveil a new concept at Frankfurt which “embodies Renault’s vision of premium automobile”.

Dacia Duster facelift revealed ahead of its debut in Frankfurt

The Dacia Duster facelift which is to be presented at the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show that starts on September 10th.The external upgrades are very mild as the design features that contributed to the success of the model, are retained. Dacia say that the refreshed car sports “emphatic 4×4 design cues” that are hard to spot!

The front end gets a redesigned grille made of two chrome-plated bars, a new air intake and new double-optic headlamps featuring daytime running lights. The updates were to underscore the Duster’s road presence and its “go-anywhere” character, Dacia claims in its press release.

David Durand, Head of Styling for the Entry range at Dacia -
We built on the appeal of the original model and its proportions. Identity components such as the grille have been modernized. We have also strengthened the 4×4 cues of the vehicle, while keeping all its useful features. New Duster gets an even stronger character while retaining its initial DNA.
Duster logos are spotted on the roof bars, while the car stands on 16-inch “Dark Metal” alloy wheels that are shod with “Mud and Snow” tires.

Freshly detailed stoplights, a chrome-plated exhaust tip and new “4WD” lettering round out the differences at the rear. Dacia is yet to show us the interiors or outline the feature upgrades. We expect to hear from them again shortly as we head towards the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The way our country's economy is faring,I don't think a facelift that too a cosmetic one will help Duster sales. They should bring in 4×4 and an automatic to the model line up.

Duster update leak from Belgium:
Dacia Duster facelift likely to list a 1.2L turbo petrol

Interesting bit about 1.2L turbo petrol engine option ...

Well connected Dacia enthusiasts say that the 1.2-liter TCe turbocharged petrol engine would be seen for the first time on the Duster. This four-cylinder unit would produce about 120bhp and 190Nm of torque while CO2 emissions would be 120g/km
