There comes a secret news about SKODA Rapid.

The estate version of the Rapid compact, rumored to carry the Spaceback or Combi moniker (perhaps even both, depending on the region), is the next new model waiting in line for its premiere, though, if we are to believe the crew over at Autoforum, the station wagon may have had an early reveal on Skoda's official website.

These pictures were reportedly found on the Rapid's configurator. For the record, we did visit Skoda's site but did not find a section for the Spaceback. On a side note, if they are real, then this means that the photos of a small Skoda estate nabbed last month in Europe could be showing us the new Fabia Combi (unless the company's engineers cunningly applied faux decals on the third side window corners and lights) and not the Rapid Sportback.

Europe – Skoda teases new Rapid Spaceback!

Skoda has been teasing us for a while now on a new Skoda Rapid variant. They have shown us the left and right taillamp of the car without revealing much. Added to that, the car sports a black strip across the bootlid and is painted red in color.

As a result, Its not sure whether it was a faster, performance oriented version called the Rapid RS (taking inspiration from the concept shown at Wörthersee), or it was the estate version which is rumored to be known as the Spaceback.

The Skoda Rapid Spaceback is part of the company’s 8 new cars for 2013. The estate version of the Rapid would fit nicely between the Fabia Combi and the Octavia Combi.

Official: Skoda Rapid Spaceback revealed; World Premiere at Frankfurt Motor Show

The Rapid Spaceback is the estate version of the Rapid sedan which would slot in between the Fabia Combi and the Octavia Combi. The Spaceback sports a glass panoramic sunroof and a ‘prolonged’ rear window which further differentiates it from the Rapid sedan.

The wheelbase of the Spaceback stands at 2,602 mm even though the Spaceback measures 18cm lesser than the sedan.

The insides are largely reminiscent to the Rapid sedan. The three-spoke steering wheel and the conventional dashboard layout ensure that you do not mistake this for anything else but a Skoda.

The 415 liter trunk can be expanded to 1,380 liters by flipping down the rear seats.

The Rapid Spaceback is available with a choice of four petrol and two diesel engines. The lowest CO2 value for one of the engines is only 99g/km. Power outputs vary between 73bhp and 120bhp. The most efficient engine consumes only 3.8 l per 100km (26.31km/l).

The Spaceback comes with front, side and head airbags while ABS and ESC are offered standard. Optional xenon lights, hill hold system and tire pressure monitoring complete the features package.

The Spaceback will have its global premiere at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show which is scheduled to take place on September 10. The car will officially launch in the European markets in October this year.
