The Jazz premium hatchback did not have a successful run in India as Honda would have hoped.

When initially launched in India, the Jazz’s sky high price tag kept it out of the reach of most prospective owners.

In 2011, Honda launched the facelifted version of the Jazz in India with rationalized prices to pump some life in the monthly sales.

Unfortunately, the dying petrol hatchback market and lack of a diesel option meant there was no second coming for the Honda Jazz.

But, as we all know, Honda has started work on the next generation Jazz expected to debut in 2014.

CarandDriver reports that the all-new Jazz will feature ‘City Brake Active’ – essentially a low-speed automatic braking system to enhance the safety credentials of the car.

Equipped with ‘City Brake Active’, the 2014 Jazz will be able to slam the brakes without any driver input if the car senses an impending crash situation.

This technology is only active at speeds up to 28 km/hr and works using a windshield-mounted laser. If the system determines that the crash is imminent, it will first send audio and visual alerts to driver. If the driver fails to react, the system will automatically apply the brakes.

Similar systems have been introduced by Volvo, Mazda and Volkswagen on their small cars; the reason being EuroNCAP considers low-speed autonomous braking systems as a plus point when issuing their official safety ratings.

What else do I need to know about the all-new Jazz?
◾The Jazz will debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show under the name Fit.
◾It will be built on a completely new scaleable platform that will also support the City sedan and a compact SUV.
◾It will be sold in more than 100 markets, just like the current version.
◾Honda is planning to introduce ‘region-specific’ design for new Jazz. Basically, depending on the regions, minor teaks will be incorporated in the design.
◾Honda is also planning to locally source parts for the Jazz in every market. Over 90% localization is expected depending on the market.
◾The new Jazz is expected to adopt the Earth Dreams diesel engines in India to cater to the growing demand for diesel hatchbacks in India

Honda Jazz with heavy price cut.

Now Honda Jazz is going to reduce its price in India. The Honda Jazz is the story of a good product killed by ambitious pricing in India. Honda wanted the Jazz to be perceived as a hatchback version of the City, but alas that failed. As a result, Honda introduced the refreshed Jazz with a heavy price cut.
Overnight, sales of the Jazz picked up but reports said Honda was losing a lot of money on every car sold. Honda had to ultimately kill the Jazz in India and hope for better fortunes for the next generation model which is due for international markets next year.
The next generation Honda Jazz (Honda Fit, if you are reading this in the US) is expected to be shown at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show scheduled in November. However, a Japanese car magazine ‘Best Car’ has revealed that the new Jazz (called Fit in other places) will be shown as early as September this year.

By the looks of it, the next generation Jazz is more of a design evolution as the overall shape still carries forth the MPV-like nature of the car. The Honda grill takes a prominent stance and we’ve seen Honda use a similar grill on their Concept M and the Crider (both were shown at this year’s Auto Shanghai).
You will not mistake the Jazz for anything else while looking at the rear of the car. While the taillights are redesigned, the bootlid and the rear stance remind you a lot of the current Jazz.
The new Jazz has grown by 60mm in exterior length and 80mm in the wheelbase. This can only mean that the overhangs are reduced and the wheels have been pushed apart to get the maximum possible interior space.

The current Jazz measured 3,900mm bumper to bumper in India. It looks like the new Jazz will exploit all the 4,000mm given while still meeting the dimensional target for a small car set by the Indian government!

The magazine also reports that the new Jazz will do a claimed 36km/l in the Japanese driving cycle (for the petrol model).
In India, Honda will most likely use their 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine powering the Amaze as by this time, Honda clearly knows the preferred fuel of choice in India.

Re: Honda Jazz with heavy price cut.

Dont expect the 2014 Jazz to come to India. Most probably it will be the 2012 International model of the Jazz (with better dashboard design) that will be launched in India.

I think Honda chiefs have already conveyed that new city , new jaaz , mini SUV will be comming to India .and it won't be a 2012 model .

Hironori Kanayama, MD, Honda Cars India, who underscored India being a "strategically important market" for Honda's global operation, said: "Our counter attack in India has just begun with the Amaze. We have a lot to do. Small cars, UVs are all under study. The SUV market is the fastest growing segment and we are studying every segment surrounding the UV space, small or premium. You can anticipate some interesting moves from Honda."

Even as the two new UVs get ready, Honda is preparing the next generation hatchback Jazz and flagship City sedan complete with diesel option for 2014. The UV segment in India grew by over 50 per cent in FY13 with sales of close to 5.53 lakh units, which explains why every carmaker is interested in getting into the fast-growing segment.

In an exclusive interview with TOI, president and CEO of Honda Car India, Hirnori Kanayama talked about the company's upcoming cars in India along with the Amaze, which is all set to launch on April 11. He said that the company has plans to launch five big vehicles within next three years, including next-generation Jazz and an all-new utility vehicle (Compact SUV, we guess) next year. While the next-generation City will come after the new Jazz.

New 2014 Honda Jazz looks superb in this rendering

Honda Jazz looks beautiful and superb now.

The news of Honda axing the current Jazz in India, came as a bolt from the blue for many. Jazz was easily one of the best premium hatchbacks the country has seen so far.

However, the discontinuation came with a silver lining. Honda promised the new Jazz in early 2014. The company is still preparing the 2014 Jazz and in a latest, new renderings have surfaced over the web along with a few details.

First up, the car looks fantastic and bigger. According to*noticiasautomotivas.com.br, New Jazz (or Fit as it is called in a few markets) will be longer, more sophisticated and will have better space. Here is what is shared:

New 2014 Jazz will be 0.6 meters longer and grow from 3.9m to 3.96m.
Wheelbase will see an increment of 0.8 meters from 2.50m to 2.58m.
New Jazz will also have better interior space
Bigger trunk which will be greater than 400 liters in volume.

Apart from these, it is speculated that the new Jazz will be more efficient. The picture formed by these renderings give a close resemblance of its design from the Urban SUV Concept that Honda showcased a while ago. The Next-Generation Honda Jazz will be revealed at Tokyo Motor Show in November this year but a media report suggests that Honda might as well unveil it earlier by September itself.

In India, launch of Next-Gen Jazz is scheduled for next year and the most import bit here is the fact that it will come with the 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine shared from Amaze apart from the regular 1.2L petrol motor. Honda has also decided to get it localized to the maximum extent possible and hence a competitive price tag is a possibility.

Re: New 2014 Honda Jazz looks superb in this rendering

New Jazz looks delicious [thumbsup] little bit overdose of chrome in the front but nevertheless a refreshing design. Now, going by what Honda says the new Jazz is going to be an epitome of space in a hatch back. I liked the interiors of the now phased out Jazz lets see what Honda has to offer in terms of interiors for the new Jazz.

The new Jazz looks a bit different and more sportier ! the present or earlier one was more decent in looks and more appealing to all segments of customers.
now this is biased and mostly more inspirational to young crowd.

The new Jazz being a 60 mm more lengthier and increase in wheel base is a very welcoming note but no info regarding the height from ground. as most honda cars say accord, civic , jazz, for that matter earlier city all had problem of low ground clearance and many bottom scrapping incidents as a major problem. If honda resolves this problem then jazz will be a perfect hatch for all conditions.

Jazz is a very good all round family hatch which gives most sedans a tough competition in terms of its reliability and storage options.

Jazz with a powerfull diesel mill would be like icing on the cake and no doubt Amaze diesel dream earth engine is a good all rounder for city as well as highways. hope honda work of petrol engine and make a more fun to drive car than a plain jane in the current/ earlier jazz. i have driven jazz both in city and highway and driving is not fun.

hope we would get refreshed jazz with a good overall package with good powerfull engine, space(which it already in benchmark in itself), aggressive pricing, then new jazz will follow trend as amaze is doing now for honda.

Rendering – 2014 Honda Jazz

The Honda Jazz is spacious, well built and comfortable, but an ambitious pricing had ensured that the hatchback never really realized its complete potential in the sub continent.

However, the 2014 Honda Jazz (called as Fit in some international markets) promises to offer more, importantly it could come with a diesel engine. There were many speculative renderings of the next gen Jazz and here is the latest one to join the line.

A Japanese magazine called “Mag X” has come up with their version of the new hatchback which bears close resemblance to an earlier rendering released by another Japanese magazine. The closeness could mean that the renderings are considerably accurate.

The next gen Jazz would have a completely new appearance. The front fascia is characterized by an imposing grill which is titled by a prominent chrome element bearing the Honda badge. The headlamps are long, narrow and are swept back while the steeply raked front windshield remains unchanged.

A large window area of the current car gives a sense of space and airiness to the cabin. The next gen model would inherit this quality but the overall shape of the greenhouse gets more stylish. The rear adopts a new approach, going by the rendering. But let’s wait and see what Honda’s designers have to offer!

The 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engine which debuted in the Amaze could well find its place under the hood of the Indian spec Jazz. That would make it an able contender in the sub continent.

The next gen Jazz is expected to make its global debut sometime later this year.

Next-generation Honda Jazz leaked; launch by 2014

Honda Cars India's future plans for the Indian car market, and the next-generation Jazz would be the next model to make its way here by early 2014. Honda India has plans to launch four big vehicles within next three years, including next-generation Jazz and an all-new utility vehicles (compact SUV) next year. While the next-generation City and MPV will come after the launch of new Jazz.

Now, a fleet of leaked press shots of the next-generation Jazz have hit the Internet. Carspyshots has managed to catch the press shots of the vehicle, which commonly hits the web before its official debut. The new Jazz will be previewed at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show in November.

The new Jazz will be manufactured on a new scaleable platform, which will also be used to develop a sedan and the production version of the Urban SUV concept, which was displayed at the Detroit Motor Show. The new Jazz will be 60mm longer, and has a stretched wheelbase, making it more spacious than its predecessor.

The new Honda Jazz will come with design upgrades both outside and inside. The leaked press shots suggest that the vehicle gets a wider grille and elongated headlamps. The front fascia of the new Jazz has a much more aggressive bumper than the current model with larger air dams. The rear too features a new tail-lamp clusters, which gets a vertical assembly, rising up to the C-Pillar from the bumper. Only one picture of the interiors was shot that of the instrument console.

The next-generation Honda Jazz will feature the Earth Dream technology, 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine, which also powers the recently launched Honda Amaze. The petrol Jazz will continue using 1.2-litre petrol mill. However, Internationally the new Jazz will get a 1.2L and 1.4L petrol engine, and the 1.6-litre i-DTEC engine.

Images of the 2014 Honda Jazz

The 2014 Honda Jazz (called as the Honda Fit in some markets) is the next global small car that you and I are waiting for. As Honda is inching closer to the world premiere of the new car, we stumbled upon a few more leaked images of the new Jazz’s interior.

Its proven that the shift holds true in case of the interior as well.

The design and layout have nothing in common with the current car. Smooth and curvy cabin elements have made way for squarish components. However the overall design can be recognized and connected to bigger Honda cars like the new Civic and Accord.

The 2014 Honda Jazz will be a bigger car with a longer wheelbase but the overall length is expected to not exceed four meters.

The wheelbase has extended by 8cm while the rear legroom has been enhanced by 6.5cm. Interior packaging is reportedly exceeding efficiency levels witnessed previously.

As far as India is concerned, the new car would offer a diesel engine alongside the 1.2-liter i-VTEC petrol engine. The 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel motor that debuted in the Amaze has a rich chance of powering the new Jazz when it comes to India next year, while a 1.6-liter version of this oil burner would find a place in the Europe-bound variants.

he 2014 Honda Jazz will premiere globally at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show scheduled in November.

Official:2014 Honda Jazz goes on sale in Japan this September

Honda has officially announced in a statement that the 2014 Honda Jazz (2014 Honda Fit for some parts of the world) would go on sale in Japan come September.

The official statement is inline with all our previous reports that the all new Jazz would be shown to the world by the end of this year itself.

The statement issued by the company was for the start of production at their new plant in Yorii, Japan. Honda says that this Saitama factory will produce the Freed MPV and the “all new Fit (Jazz) which is scheduled to go on sale in Japan this September”.The statement also says that Honda has already begun production at this plant.

Honda says that the plant will produce the “World’s Eco-Friendliest products” indicating that the Jazz’s claimed 36km/l fuel efficiency could prove to be true. The production capacity of this plant is rated at 250,000 units per annum.

Front end of the car looks ok and futuristic but the current gen was better (My personal opinion)
Rear end of the 2014 jazz is a major let down. the tail lamps does not gel well with the overall theme of the car. the car looks different from front and different from rear, no matching though.
Hope Honda launches with better petrol engine as the current Jazz is underpowered.
diesel mill from Amaze is good but more refined preferred.

lets hope Jazz to get launched @ a competitive price and boost up the competition.

2014 Honda Jazz –100PS 1.3L engine claims 28kpl!

2014 Honda Jazz (2014 Honda Fit in the US) With these images, we have a few unreported details as well.

The 2014 Honda Jazz was featured on the cover of a Japanese car magazine recently. It was then made official that the new Jazz would be available with Japanese dealers from September.

2014 Jazz has grown by a massive extent compared to the older Jazz. The image that you see directly below is supposed to be from the dealer training module Honda has prepared. The knee room has grown by 65mm while the chest room sees a huge 80mm increase. The space between the rear seat bench and the front seat has gone up by a whopping 115mm!

Coming to the 2014 Jazz Hybrid, three models that would go on sale: The Hybrid, Hybrid S and Hybrid L. All variants would feature the 1.5-liter i-VTEC as a base engine and maybe their electric outputs would defer. However, all variants would feature the i-DCD (Honda intelligent dual-clutch drive) as standard.

While the Jazz will get a diesel engine for India (and very likely in Europe) we’ve a few details on the gasoline options. It is being speculated that the base engine option would be a 1.3-liter SOHC producing 100PS of power and achieving 28km/l! It is very much possible given that the 1.2-liter i-VTEC in the Brio and the older Jazz produces 88PS.

The next engine option is a 1.5-liter producing 130PS. That’s even higher than the Honda City! Perhaps the next generation City (which would be based on the 2014 Jazz) would also get this sort of power.

Honda is expected to make the Jazz a lot safer and we hear that a Blind Spot Warning like system along with an obstruction warning system would be available.

2014 Honda Jazz will come in at least 10 color options. There will also be a performance oriented Jazz RS version on sale.
