Chevrolet has launched the teaser of their new range of models targetting emerging markets like india, brazil, russia, etc.. this new sedan will be based on Onix concept which is specially developed for emrging markets .

Sources say that lot of design work is been carried out in brazil and india, which would cater to the needs of the market like toyota did for Etios and liva. where they studied the market and developed the car similarly GM engineers took alll aspects of market and designed the car keeping cost and needs of customers as well.

This might come to india sometime as its been developed for markets like india..

Chevrolet teases Prisma sedan for Brazil

We have been closely monitoring the development of the Chevrolet Prisma as the sedan gets ready for its big day in Brazil.

Last week, GM Brazil released the first teaser of the Onix based sedan but stayed short of revealing specifications. However, media reports have been strongly suggesting since a long time that the compact sedan will be christened as the Prisma and running gear will be shared with the Onix.

Designed exclusively for Brazilian market, the Chevy Prisma will take on the likes of Toyota Etios and the upcoming Hyundai sedan based on the HB20. It is to be noted that the Onix hatchback outsells the Etios hatchback in Brazil and the sedan would try to overtake the Toyota counterpart without further ado.

The Prisma will be powered by a 1.4 litre flex fuel engine which offers 106 bhp. Power is passed on to the wheels by a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Recently, the high end LTZ variant of the sedan was caught testing in Brazilian roads. The LTZ variant is stuffed with features like ABS, airbags, alloy wheels and Chevy’s MyLink multimedia infotainment system.

The Chevrolet Prisma is for GM Brazil what Sail sedan is for GM India. Given that its hatchback sister Onix is a runaway success, the Prisma can start off the proceedings with confidence.

The Prisma is expected to premiere in Brazil on February 26th shortly after which it will hit dealer showrooms.

Chevy Prisma could be Placed instead of OPTRA which was the Best sedan from GM in its times. This Prisma shall be between the Sail Sedan and the Cruze

Chevrolet of Brazil recently teased the sedan without divulging details. The official launch is expected to be held on February 27.

Sales of the Prisma should begin in March and as you can see from these photos, preparation is underway.

Shot by Mr. Douglas Santos, a reader of Autos Segredos and Mr. Andrew, a Noticias Automotivas reader, the Prisma is reportedly on its way to local Brazilian dealerships.

The Brazil specific Prisma is expected to be powered by a 1.4-liter Flex fuel engine producing about 106 bhp. A 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic are the expected transmission options.

While the base- and mid-variants of the Prisma appeal to the budget conscious, a high-end LTZ variant with added goodies like ABS, airbags, alloy wheels and Chevy’s MyLink multimedia infotainment system was also spotted, meant for the value-seeking buyer.

While the price is still unannounced, it is expected that the Prisma would cost between 34,000 Brazilian Real’s (INR 9.43 lakhs) to 36,000 Brazilian Real’s (INR 9.99 lakhs).

It would be their style of making handle or they would have thought of making unique handles other than the pull type handles which are in present
