YU Yureka Note vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 vs Lenovo K4 Note: Price, specifications, features compared

Micromax-backed YU launched a new phablet yesterday, called the Yureka Note. Priced at Rs 13,499, the new phablet is entering a segment that is very competitive. Post the launch, comparisons were being made with devices like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and the Lenovo K4 Note to name a few. With that in mind, we pit the three devices in a comparison based on their price, specifications and features.

Price: The new YU Yureka Note is the most expensive of the lot with a price tag of Rs 13,499. The Redmi Note 3 and the K4 Note, on the other hand, are both priced at Rs 11,999. Unlike Xiaomi and Lenovo’s smartphones, the Yureka Note is available at offline mobile stores as well.

Specifications: While all three devices flaunt full HD (1080p) displays, the difference is in the screen sizes. In comparison to the 5.5-inch screens on the Redmi Note 3 and K4 Note, the Yureka Note comes with a 6-inch screen.

Under the hood, YU’s smartphone features a MediaTek MT6753T octa-core chipset, while the K4 Note features a MediaTek MT6753 octa-core chipset. The Redmi Note 3, on the other hand, features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 hexa-core chipset. All processors are paired with 3GB of RAM.

On the storage front, the Redmi Note 3 leads with 32GB internal storage, while the other two come with 16GB built-in storage each. The three smartphones also include a microSD card slot to further expand the inbuilt storage.

For photography lovers, the Yureka Note and K4 Note both include a 13-megapixel primary camera with PDAF support and accompanied by dual-LED flash. The Redmi Note 3 features a 16-megapixel camera with PDAF support and accompanied by dual-LED flash. Up front, all three include a 5-megapixel selfie camera. On paper, Xiaomi’s smartphone may look to have the best camera features, but just the megapixel count isn’t everything. We will reserve our judgment till we have reviewed all the three smartphones.

With a 4,050mAh battery, Xiaomi smartphone leads the pack, closely followed by the Yureka Note with a 4,000mAh battery. The K4 Note has a relatively small 3,300mAh battery. On the software front, all three smartphones run on Android Lollipop, and come with the usual bevy of connectivity options. Only the Redmi Note 3 however comes with added VoLTE support, which makes it future-proof as well.

Features: All the three devices boast a fingerprint scanner that not only adds an extra layer of security, but can also unlock the device in under a second. The Yureka Note and the K4 Note also come with a bunch of features that are aimed at the multimedia-loving audience.

The Yureka Note comes with dual speakers and NXP support, while the K4 Note supports Lenovo’s TheaterMax technology. This can essentially convert any multimedia content into a virtual reality experience. You will have to buy the ANTVR headset, priced at Rs 1,299.

All three smartphones then are quite closely matched on the specifications and features front. With little differentiating the three, it is a tad surprising that the Yureka Note is Rs 2,000 more expensive than the other two. We will pass our final judgment though when we have put new device through a review, so stay tuned.
