Reliance Jio’s LYF 4G smartphones to launch in first week of February: Data, voice and SMS plans revealed
Reliance Jio has already launched 4G services for its employees, and it will soon launch smartphones under the LYF brand. While the company is mum about its plans, a report claims that the first batch of LYF smartphone could be launched as early as the first week of February.
Reliance Jio will launch its LYF smartphones at 13 cities in the first phase. These include Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Baroda, Kochi, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Indore and Patna, RTNAsia reports. Furthermore, these smartphones will be bundled with a Jio SIM card and a plan that offers 50GB of 4G data, 5,000 minutes of talktime and up to 5,000 free SMS.
As we have reported before, Reliance Jio will be launching four different series of smartphones under the LYF brand, named after the four elements – ‘Earth’, ‘Water’, ‘Wind’ and ‘Flame’. The Earth 1 will be the first smartphone to launch, and will be in the super-premium segment.
A recent hands-on video revealed some much-awaited information about the Earth 1. It features a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, and 32GB of internal storage long with microSD card slot.
It also features a 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual cameras at the back, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. It is powered by a 3,500mAh battery. It comes with connectivity options like 4G LTE support, dual-SIM card slots, VoLTE and VoWiFi support. On the software front, it runs on Android Lollipop.
While there is no word on the pricing of the Earth 1, earlier reports claim that all LYF branded smartphones will be priced between Rs 4,000 and Rs 25,000.
