All talks about phone dimensions, phone features, price, but one simple thing that missed is OS & associated threats. Especially in this era of M-commerce becoming more common than E-commerce (netbanking, online purchase, money transfer etc), one has to be very careful about online security when purchased mobile is going to be used for online economics as well as mobile number is used as password or gateway at various financial institutions (banks, credit cards, insurance, SMS alerts, bank statements, online passwords, credit card authorizations, emails, whatsup, web site logins etc).
History repeats itself. Viruses, Trojans, keyboard logger, worms, spyware, malware, adware, rootkits, tracking apps/cookies etc are most common for windows OS since years, as windows is used as computer operating system on >70% personal computers. So if you make bad program for this OS, chances are that 70/100 people will be using that. ANDROID is used by 65% of mobile phones, so such bad apps are mostly written for Android OS, & hence phone with Android phones are most liable to interact with those bad apps.
Also, Android is open source platform, so anybody can use android programming platform to create & market useful looking programs to public. In iPhone OS (iOS) & to lesser degree Windows OS, programmer has to first send programs / apps to Apple or Microsoft respectively to test program & when get approved as safe, can be made publicly available. In android platform, program available from Google store does meant they are certified by Google as clean to use.
In short, if you planning to use your phone for serious business or financial use, give consideration to what OS is used by phone & how safe it is, apart from price & feature. I use Samsung Android phone, knowing & playing within all its limitations

Many times i have used antivirus apps to scan my phone for viruses malicious apps but didn't find any problem yet. So i think playstore apps are safe. But still to prevent those security threats a good antivirus app is necessary.. . |

Even after Google introduced its Bouncer (an automatic analysis tool to approve each application which is submitted to the Google Play Store) malicious applications still exist.
As malware writers try to earn money for their bad deeds, they continually look for new ways to get their malicious software installed on your devices. The best recommendation is still to think twice before installing untrusted software or clicking on strange-looking links. Free antivirus are available but with subnormal efficiency, paid mobile security apps little better but still not 100% - worst is this apps occupy much space in memory & drain mobile battery a lot.

| Re: The 'Suggest Me a New Mobile Phone' Thread Hi guys,
I am planning to upgrade my cell and my budget is strictly between 10-14k. I am interested in Samsung Grand Neo. I am not interested in brands like Micromax, Xolo, etc. Please provide your valuable inputs regarding this.
Warm Regards, |

Grand Neo is the worst one you could get. |

| Re: The 'Suggest Me a New Mobile Phone' Thread Mi3 if you can live that custom UI they have installed.
Else MotoG if you can live with a 5 inch phone.
Edit: Mi3 production has been stopped. So go for the Redmi s or the Redmi Note. |

| Re: The 'Suggest Me a New Mobile Phone' Thread ^^ it's time you move away from samsung. S5 and note 3 both failed and had a drastic price reduction after 3-4 months of the launch.
Still your choice. |

Just want to upgrade from old symbian to other such as microsoft or android, as I own Nokia 603. :-)

| Re: The 'Suggest Me a New Mobile Phone' Thread Moto g sales starts tonight :p
In windows you can get lumia 630 at a price as low as 8500 rupees. I wonder how come 625 and 620 are retailing at 13500 on flipkart.
You can get windows phone and yoi won't regret since you are coming from symbian, there are lots of applications on windows platform now.
But if it is android , then i'll go with what edios suggested. |

| Re: The 'Suggest Me a New Mobile Phone' Thread Windows is a good choice but don't over expect things. The OS is a bit slow (read, not LAG) when compared to Android device in the same budget. Having a Lumia 720 in my home, I can tell, it is good but IMO there are a lot of other good devices out there. Two of them are from reputed brands, Asus and Moto.
Wait, Lumia 730 is about to arrive, don't know about the pricing. |

| Re: The 'Suggest Me a New Mobile Phone' Thread Recently baught the cheapest windows 8.1 mobile
yes lumia 530
the config is 1.2 quad core / 512 mb ram / 4 gb internal mem / up to 128 mb sd card support
dual sim / wifi support
their is no lag with the native apps
it lags only on certain memory hungry 3rd part apps
at a price of 7 k this mobile comes with in build app locker kind of tool to provide access for kids to certain apps "kids zone"
offline maps (here maps) it doesnt know all famous shops but for point to point navigation its quick and good, but not par with google maps
no its not on par with moto g kind of android mobiles but this is kind of new and look and feels professional to me |
