Flash Samsung Galaxy Ace 5830i with Custom ROM

I have been trying to flash my Galaxy ace 5830i with custom Rom using odin.
May be i did not understand the concept.
I am failing to flash it.
is there any one here who installed custom rom.
Please give totally detailed explanation as i am a total noob at this.

You need to head over to xda for some info and custom roms.

As for as my knowledge with samsung goes

Phone needs to be rooted.
you need to install clockwork recovery on your phone first.

For that you need to put your phone in download mode and flash the clockwork recovery file on to your phone.

Download some custom roms posted on xda and save them on to the sd card root.

Go into clockwork recovery mode.

Do a factory reset

in mounts format system

then install zip from sd card
choose the custom rom zip.

In advanced clear dalvik cache

in mounts Go to mount system

and then reboot.

This is the general procedure.
Some step vary depending on the roms
Before that it is necessary to backup all your contacts and sms on your phone.

For a first times better check some youtube videos first to get a hang of how to enter download mode or how to use the recovery mode.
