Hi

One of the parts that you have to replace frequently is DRIVE SHAFT BOOT
driveshaftboot - Google Search
I don't know where you live but in some countries the boots are made from low quality materials to reduce the manufacturing expenses and to make the people buy them more and more
The available boots in the market have another problem too.
THEY ARE SHORT
it makes them stretch when you turn the steering wheel left and right and get torn after a few months .
BUT YOUR HAND MADE BOOT IS NOT SHORT .
it's long enough to prevent stretching and getting torn . so it's very long lasting .
if you don't replace the "broken/torn shaft boot" fast it causes to damage the CV JOINT ( constant velocity joint ) that is an expensive part so you'll lose a lot of money to buy and replace both of them and maybe you don't find them in the market if your car is old .
you must replace the torn DRIVE SHAFT BOOT within around 10 days to prevent damaging of cv joint that is nearly an expensive part .
but replacing The drive shaft boot is not easy .
you have to take several things apart and pay lot of money to buy them and pay lot of money to a mechanic to replace them .

BUT YOU CAN MAKE A HIGH QUALITY DRIVE SHAFT BOOT YOURSELF AND INSTALL IT YOURSELF WITHOUT TAKE ANYTHING APART & ALMOST FOR FREE

things you need :

1- A broken or punctured inner tube .

you can take one from any puncture repair shop FOR FREE .

try to get a high quality inner tube ( american , european or japanes )

biger inner tube is better because it's thicker and longer lasting.

2- Half teacup of "rubber shoes glue"

YOU CAN TAKE SOME FROM ANY SHOEMAKER SHOP PERHAPS FOR FREE OR VERY CHEAP.
you can put it in a empty bottle or even a Nylon bag ( if you use it fast ) .

3- you also need this simple cheap tool to squeeze/press the inner tube for 1 or 2 hours or more after sticking to make the bond stronger .
THESE PHOTOS MAY BE DELETED WITHIN A FEW DAYS . SAVE THEM IF YOU NEED THEM .

I put that GM PLUG to show the size of those pieces . that black thing is a piece of inner tube squeezed by this simple tool .
4- You need to make a simple sample for cutting the inner tube correctly .
here is a sample :

ARTER CUTTING

your drive shaft boot will be like this :

If you have no time to make this sample don't make it . just cut the inner tube like a rectangle .

if the length of your car's boot is 18 cm ( for example ) you have to make your boot 5cm bigger at least ( 23cm ) . it is necessary to prevent the boot gets stretched & broken/ torn when you turn the steering wheel to left & right .

HOW TO INSTALL IT ?
before you start , cut a piece of inner tube and sand it by sanding paper to make it clean & rough and glue it then wait 4 min for drying the rubber glue then press it by that tool strongly for 1 hour to make sure you know very well how to do that .
1- clean the sticking area very well on the inner tube by a piece of Sanding paper ( no 100 or 80 are better )
sanding paper - Google Search
if you don't have sanding pepper you can do that with a rasps or a knife sharpening stone or even a pumice stone !!!
pumice stone - Google Search

2- cut the dameged boot and remove it and clean it's place .
3- if the grease of cv joint is dirty or not enough , remove it and put too much new high qulity grease .
squeeze the grease well to go everywhere inside the cv joint and all the air come out of the cv jiont .
4- put enough shoe glue on the both sides that you want to stick (left and right ) and wait 4 min to let it dry BUT DON'T STICK THEM.
5- after 4 min put it on the DRIVE SHAFT & stick it & press it strongly for 1 or 2 hours or more just like the below photo .

6- remove the tool .
7- now your handmade boot is ready to install on the cv joint .
install it and tighten it by a hose clamp
hose - Google Search clamp

or a piece of metal wire and tighten it by pliers .

DON'T FORGET THE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU ARE UNDER THE CAR .
DON'T TRUST THE JACK . ALWAYS PUT A STRONG THING UNDER THE CAR BESIDE THE JACK FOR YOUR SAFETY AND PUT SOMETHING BACK OF THE REAR WHEELS AND DO NOT LET KIDS PLAY NEAR THE CAR .

if you don't have metal wire you can use wire of dress hanger . you can take one FOR FREE from a laundry .
http://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mFGY-vtl6-b2hGZJ_LT7nTg.jpg
Empty the air inside the drive shaft boot before tightening the clamps or metal wire.
check it everyday for a week to make sure everything is ok.

This boot will last several years IF you did everything well . the cv joint doesn't brake down as long as the boot is not damaged .
Every time you want to change the engine oil take a look under the car to make sure the boots are ok . when the boots are ok the cv joints are ok too .

Hi
You can made it for all types and all models of cars . old cars & new cars .
the Most important thing is you use a thick & high quality inner tube & high quality rubber shoe glue & apply the instruction exactly .
the only thing that you have to take apart is the tire as you see in the last photos
the assembling takes 10 minutes only but you have to press it at least for an hour & it's better to press is for 2 hours to make the bond stronger
